Elevation Data
• LIDAR acquisition
• Capturing imagery while the plane is already in the air.
• Working in priority areas (Specific watersheds)

Elevation TWG
• A Technical Working Group that is a branch of the Georgia GIS Coordinating Committee (GISCC).
• Call before you commit any money for a new flight or you purchase/lease existing data.
Train the Trainer
• A newly started and ongoing initiative to train Regional Commission staff on ways that they can provide a higher level of GIS services.

Phase Two… or Three
• Now that most counties have the base layers of a GIS, many are looking ahead to see how they can use the data that they have to it’s fullest and making decisions as to what data elements they want to add next.
• Road centerline addressing
• Point addressing
• Zoning
• Utilities
• Web access
• Land use planning

New Stuff
• GPS integration with data maintenance
• The cost of mapping grade GPS units and the availability of base station signals has given the GIS community the tools they need to produce even better quality data. Many surveyors have made the jump to using survey grade GPS in their work.
New Stuff
•Spatially enabled building sketches.

Building Sketches
• We have developed a process by which we extract the building sketches from the assessor’s appraisal software and place these sketches on the parcel that they belong to. Once in place, these sketches have several uses.
• 1. Finding missing additions.

208 missing additions out of 478 houses over $1,000,000 in value

Better access to data
• New and better web applications
• Data portals (Ga. GIS clearinghouse)
• Sharing data with state/federal agencies
• Data sharing between jurisdictions
• Data sharing with the public
• Web access to data (data services)
