ear ly morning hours and crankbaits orspinnerbaits throughout the day. How-ever, drop shot r igs with soft stickbaitsor 4-inch plastic worms are becomingmore popular with bass anglers.

With several campgrounds, a swim-ming beach, scenic vistas, boat rentals, and a lake ful l of fish, Prince GallitzinState Park is a great place to v isit withyour family.

to have the amur pike available for U.S.anglers. In 1976 the world record amurpike (caught by hook and line) was takenfrom Glendale Lake.

Glendale Lake is more noted for itspanfish than its amur pike. Black crap-pies average 8 to 9 inches, but there areconsistent reports of larger crappies inthe 13 inch, 1½-pound range. Yellowperch and bluegil l are abundant for an-glers who are looking for some good eat-ing fish. Largemouth bass in the 3- to4-pound range are regularly taken fromthe lake and occasionally the catch of alargemouth as big as 6 pounds has beenreported. Both purebred and tigermuskellunge are caught regularly by an-glers. Anglers can also catch northernpike, chain pickerel and wal leyes with thelake having some natural reproductionof these species.

Fishing the shallow waters in the covesis always a safe bet when looking forlargemouth bass, but anglers after alunker prefer State Lick Branch cove. This cove is to the left looking up the lakefrom the breast of the dam, but it is theonly cove without a boat access. Theclosest boat access is Beaver Dam launchwithin sight of the dam breast. BothWyerough Run and Kil lbuck Run cove

have a good population of submergedvegetation. This vegetation attracts for-age fish, which in turn attracts game fishinto the cove. The vegetation is an ex-cellent location for anglers looking forpike or muskellunge. Panfish can befound in al l the coves and throughoutthe main lake wherever there are downedtrees or submerged tree stumps.

Anglers using live bait prefer minnowsand nightcrawlers for the panfish andlarger shiners for the pike, wal leyes andmuskellunge. Bass anglers have had themost success using topwater baits in
