Font: The use of 70s style font is done in homage to the roots of EDM and also gives the consumer an idea of the type of music that the album features.

Style: It is also a very artistic cover, that makes a very clever comment on the nature of the music. One assumes the multi-coloured strands emitted from the buildings symbolise the fact that this is a breakout album that will be played everywhere.

Furthermore, the fact that the cream border has been broken on the outskirts of the album, may be a link to the phrase ‘Think outside the box’ or the idea that Smith believes his music is different from everything else.

I think that the main point of this cover is to confuse. There is a lot going on, on the cover; this may be a link to the fact idea that Bassnectar’s album touches on a lot of ideas and messages, whilst also being different and underground.

Style: It also looks like a newspaper cut-out collage, which is a very interesting and aesthetically pleasing way to construct an album cover.

As with most EDM artists, they often cover and wear helmets to send the message that it is the music that matters not the appearance.

Not only this but the art is very aesthetically pleasing and eye catching. Some consumers might buy the album purely for the beautiful cover art.

Font: The slanted thick font is done in homage to the late 1970s and is very striking. It also tells us that the music will be loud, thumping and metallic.

Image: This image is not only trying to be sexually appealing but may also be a racial comment that we are all the same, Black or White.

Tenaglia has used a symbolism here to tell us that he is getting back to his underground roots. The ripped card tells us that he left those roots to appeal to the mainstream. But the fact that it has been joined back together using paper clips, tells us that he is trying to get back to what started his career in the first place. This album was actually seen as Tenaglia returning to what gained him his first batch of fans.Not only this but the art is also vey confident. The fact that he uses the King card tells us that he believes he is one of the best EDM artists.

He has sent this complicated message in a small snapshot, which is why this album art is considered one of the best of all time.

I’ve realised that EDM artists are always trying to send clever message through their album art, and this example is no different. The album is called ‘Converting Vegetarians’, which ma be a comment on the quality of the mainstream and loved music. Infected Mushroom were known for their dislike of the pop and hip hop genre. They wanted to be different. They believed their music was better and would appeal to the mainstream audience. They saw this album as bait, to entice the mainstream listeners to the EDM genre (fish hook image)

Music: This tells the listener that that the music will be loud and thumping (factories) but also calming and upbeat (beach)

Comment: This is also a comment on the growth of urbanisation and the loss of the world as we know it. The Crystal Method are telling us that pollution is not only destroying the world (ash clouds) but also destroying the way we see the world.
