The ECTS credit is a notional, averaged unit of 25 hours of student workload for passing a course
(contact hours, any form of individual study). Each degree curriculum has 60 ECTS per year.
Grading System: The Albanian grading scale runs from 1 to 10 and the marks have the following
meanings: 1-4 fail, 5-6 sufficient, 7 satisfactory, 8 good, 9 very good, 10 excellent.

Main language of instruction: Albanian – Required minimum level = B1
Other language of instruction: English – Required minimum level = B1 English is accepted
instead of Albanian Language only in the following cases: Students coming for their PhD, project
or for research work whose tutor accepts English as working language.

Since academic year 2007/08 studies at the University of Banja Luka are organized according to

It is recommended that applicants have at least a basic level of Croatian before coming to our
university, since our classes are taught mainly in Croatian. In addition, they are encouraged to
take the Croatian intensive course.
If students do not have any Croatian knowledge, the University of Mostar recommends them to
have language level B1 in English.

All incoming undergraduate non-degree exchange students must complete the University of
Waterloo's International Incoming Exchange Program Application.
There is no application fee for students applying as an incoming exchange student.
When completing the online application, you are responsible for submitting correct and complete
information. Please ensure that you have access to a printer and set aside approximately one
hour to complete the application.
Once your application is complete, you should print two copies of the summary form. Submit one
copy of the completed application to your home university's Exchange Coordinator for approval
(Note: a signature is required) and keep a copy for your records. Once approved, your Exchange
Coordinator will forward the completed application as well as all required documents to the
University of Waterloo. We do not accept applications submitted by students directly. The
following supporting documents must be included with your application summary form:
Exchange nomination form (PDF), completed by your home university
Official transcript including the grading scale
Photocopy of your passport identification page
Personal statement
English language proficiency scores or equivalent documentation supporting your
language proficiency
Architecture applicants are also required to submit a portfolio for review

In the academic year 2003/2004, the first year of studies at the University of Montenegro was
experimentally organized in accordance with the Bologna Declaration principles. In the academic
year 2004/2005, this regime of studying was applied at the first year of studies at all faculties.
Implementation of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) will provide better conditions of
studying for students as well as an opportunity for mobility within the European Academic Area.

3. ECTS/Grading System:
Each subject in the study programme has its number of ECTS points, and the volume of studies is
reflected in overall ECTS points. The total of 60 ECTS points corresponds to average student’s
work in a 40 working hour week in one academic year.
Students’ success in the exams is reflected in the following grades: 10 – remarkable; 9 –
excellent; 8 – very good; 7 – good; 6 – satisfactory; 5 – failed. Students’ success in exams at the
University and its higher education units may not be shown numerically, but according to the

English Language requirement for International applicants whose first language is not

o You are required to provide evidence of the Test of English as a Foreign Language
(TOEFL) with a minimum score of 500 paper-based or 82 on the computer-based
examination

o A Certificate showing a minimum total score of 6.5 on the University of Cambridge
IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
OR
o Grade B or above in the College English Course from an approved University
(Recognised Home University English language exam at Advanced level)

4. Language of instruction:
English: All incoming exchange students must have sufficient TOEFL or IELTS score (see below).
Acceptable scores are:
TOEFL computerized test minimum score accepted is 213 written test minimum is 550
iBT test (internet) minimum score is 80
Minimum IELTS score of 6.5

Applicants who are citizens of the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, and have studied four
years in their home country in English are exempt from TOEFL. Per University agreements,
students from the following partner universities are also exempt from submitting TOEFL scores:
University of Agder, Norway
University of Graz, Austria
Kristianstad University, Sweden
In the above cases, the home institution shall screen applicants for English proficiency. Other
exemptions for TOEFL are made on a case by case basis. Students from all other partner
institutions must submit their current test scores with their application packets.
