YAChT GARbAGe DISpOSAlAshore, there is only one place to dispose of yacht garbage – the skips located off the Fish Market Jetty
next to the Vegetable Market. These are reserved exclusively for yachties’ use. Alternatively, yacht garbage may be delivered “at sea” to Daffodil Marine or other reliable water taxis;
charge usually $3.00 to $5.00 per bag. Dumping in unauthorized places is a prosecutable offence.

Although some businesses close at this time of year for essential maintenance and hard-earned annual staff vacations, Bequia still has much to offer: Delightful restaurants and boutiques, great yacht provisioning, excellent marine supplies, beautiful uncrowded beaches, friendly bars, island tours through lush, summer-fresh scenery, boat day trips, and much more…
The air-conditioned Bequia Tourism Association office at the end of the main jetty is open daily throughout September and October (Mon to Fri 9am - 5.30pm, Saturdays 9am - 1pm, Sundays / Public Holidays 9am - 11.30am). Tourism Representatives Vernamay Ollivierre and Julene Hope are there to help you with advice on what to do, where to stay, ferry times, taxi rates and much more, so do take time to stop by for a visit. Phone cards, postcards, stamps, and ice-cold bottled water are all on sale there, along with stylish Bequia 2013 souvenir Bequia Regatta nd Music Fest T-Shirts at bargain prices, courtesy flags and more.
You can also pick up a FREE copy of two great publications – “Holiday Bequia” and “Ins & Outs of St. Vincent & the Grenadines”. Both are packed full of useful and interesting information about the island and the country.
Bequia’s two banks, RBTT (opposite the Tourism Office) and NCB (off Back Street) are equipped with 24-hour ATM machines which will accept most credit cards. If you are on a yacht, our friendly Customs & Immigration officers in the Revenue Office will answer any questions you might have. There are a number of internet access and WiFi outlets in and around Port Elizabeth, so you should have no trouble checking and sending your emails and getting the latest weather updates.
So just relax, unwind – and enjoy your stay!
