Sodium bentonite expands when wet, absorbing as much as

several times its dry mass in water. Because of its excellent

colloidal properties, it is often used in drilling mud for oil and

gas wells and boreholes for geotechnical and environmental

investigations. The property of swelling also makes sodium

bentonite useful as a sealant, since it provides a self-sealing, low

permeability barrier. It is used to line the base of landfills,

Calcium bentonite is a useful adsorbent of ions in solution, as

well as fats and oils. It is the main active ingredient of fuller's

earth, probably one of the earliest industrial cleaning agents.

Some properties, such as viscosity and fluid loss of suspensions,

of sodium-beneficiated calcium bentonite (or sodium-activated

bentonite) may not be fully equivalent to those of natural

sodium bentonite

For industrial use of Bentonite, we are using HDPE bags of 25 kg, 50 kg & 1 MT Jumbo bags with lamination and liner. We also use paper bags,

plastic bags of 25 kg & 50kg for the same. All the packings are moisture proof.

Drilling Mud.

Another conventional use of bentonite is as a mud

constituent for oil- and water- well drilling. Its role is mainly

to seal the borehole walls, to remove drill cuttings and to

lubricate the cutting head. The special higher mud yield

results in using less quantity of Bentonite for the same

standard mud. This results in lesser requirement of Bentonite.

Bentonite in civil engineering applications is traditionally used

as a thixotropic, support and lubricant agent in diaphragm walls

and foundations, in tunnelling, in horizontal directional drilling

(HDD) and pipe jacking. Bentonite, due to its viscosity and

plasticity, is also used in Portland cement and mortars.

DEISTBOND is widely acceped by civil construction industries

for stabilization of slopes during excavation in unstable

grounds as well as land fill applications.

PHYSICAL PARAMETERS

Bentonite is stabilizing fine-, heavy- and technical- ceramic

products. It is a used as antisettling agent in engobes and

glazes, as fluxing agent, and as plasticizer.

Bentonite is crucial to paper making, where it is used in pitch

control (i.e. absorption of wood resins that tend to obstruct the

machines), to improve the efficiency of the conversion of pulp

into paper, and to improve the quality of the paper. Bentonite

also offers useful de-inking properties for paper recycling. In

addition, acid activated bentonite is used as the active

component in the manufacture of carbonless copy paper.
