Ben Wray passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 28, 2015. He was born to Frank and Alice Wray in Ridgefield Washington on December 11, 1923 and lived in the small town he loved the majority of his 91 years. Early years were spent hunting birds, fishing at Gee Creek, biking, skating and caring for animals with his sister Beulah, on their small family farm. Ben went to school in Ridgefield and graduated in 1942. He loved all sports but was most proud of play- ing on the championship football team that ruled the league his high school years. Ben joined the Navy in 1943. He was trained in radio and aviation gunnery serving our country on the USS Thetis Bay. Ben married LaRene Bjur in 1946. Together they raised three children, built two homes on “Wray Hill” and built a vacation cabin on An- derson Island where life long memories were made with family and friends. The majority of his working years were with Mayflower/Darigold. He began as a milk haul- er on a can truck and later became a feed sales- man retiring after 43 years. Ben and LaRene traveled the US, vacationed to Can- ada, Mexico, England and Alaska. He continued fishing and played lots of golf in retirement years. Ben cared for their church grounds for 25 years and did numerous projects for friends and family. Ben had a great sense of humor, loved good food, rarely missed the “funnies” section in the paper and could wrestle his grandchildren un- til he was 80! Ben is survived by his children, Vicki (Jerry) Iverson, Tim (Mer- edith) Wray, and Randall Wray; his grandchildren, Ted Iverson, Jennifer Iverson, Matthew (Sarah) Iverson, Kourtney (Shane) Culber- son, Eythan Wray, Luke (Misty Jo) Reudink, Benjamen Wray; and his great-grandchildren, McKayIa, Ashlyn, Cruz, Elle, Tallula, “Finn”, Ezra, Morgan, Austin, Madison, Wyatt, Amelia, Carson, and Noah; great-great grandchild Grayson, A memorial service will be held at the Ridge- field Community United Methodist Church, on December 12th at 11:00 am. Memorial do- nations are suggested to the Ridgefield Com- munity United Methodist Church. Special thanks to the Meadows in Battleground for their wonderful care in his last weeks.
