beneficiation of silica sand
TRANSCRIPT
What is ‘beneficiation’ ?
‘Beneficiation’ is the processing of raw
minerals to yield marketable products by means
of physical and mechanical methods without
destroying their physical and chemical identity.
What is Silica Sand ?
Silica is the name given to a group of
minerals composed of silicon and oxygen, the
two most abundant elements in the earth's crust.
Sand consists of small grains or particles of
mineral and rock fragments, generally is the
mineral of silica.
The value of production of Non- metallic at
Rs. 4986.94 Crore.
In which the Silica Sand contributes about
0.70 %.
Rajasthan, the principal State accounted for
74% of the overall production of Silica Sand.
Silica Sand having color due to ferroginuos
impurities present in it. Assay value of
required Silica Sand varies with its
application. Maximum production of Silica
Sand is for glass industries.

Spiral classifier is widely used for separating sand in the ore beneficiation plant to equip with ball mill to form a closed cycle, for classifying ore sand and fine silt in the gravity separation plant, for the granularity classification of the pulp in the metal ore beneficiation flow and for removing the slime and water in the ore washing process.
Froth flotation is a highly versatile method for physically separating
particles based on differences in the ability of air bubbles to selectively
adhere to specific mineral surfaces in a mineral/water slurry. The particles
with attached air bubbles are then carried to the surface and removed,
while the particles that remain completely wetted stay in the liquid phase.
Froth flotation can be adapted to a broad range of mineral separations
Magnetic separator is one of the machines with the widest
application and highest universality in the mining industry and it is
suitable for removing the iron to recycle the powder particles.
