The U.S. Surgeon General suggests concentrating on avoiding disease, staying physically and mentally active, engaging with people, and keeping a watchful eye on finances. The intention for having this support group is to have a safe and supportive space to work through the feelings associated with grief as well as help one another heal and reengage in life. Month, a time to think positivelyabout growing older and takingcharge of our overall health andwell-being. The U.S. SurgeonGeneral suggests concentrating onavoiding disease, stayingphysically and mentally active,engaging with people, andkeeping a watchful eye onfinances.

NFL PoolFall is only weeks away and

with it comes football! OurBelmont NFL pool will be up andrunning before you know it. Wewill meet weekly to discuss theodds, and you have theopportunity to choose whichteams you think will win eachweek. We will have weeklywinners, and the top threewinners for the overall season willwin a free meal at Corrigan’sSteakhouse. The 1st place seasonwinner will also receive theBelmont Village NFL Poolwinning trophy. Everyone isallowed to participate. Contestforms will be posted each week onthe bulletin board in the Bistro.

September is known as HealthyAging Month, and all of us cantake small steps each day to helpimprove our overall health.Healthy Aging Magazinerecommends the following fivesteps for healthy aging.

1. Exercise: Exercise will notonly help maintain your physicalhealth, but it does wonders foryour mental health as well. Checkthe activity schedule to join one ofthe exercise classes or create awalking group with your friends.

2. Drink More Water: Waterdoes so much for our body andcan even assist in improving youroverall mood. If you find yourselffeeling sluggish or more tired thanusual, try increasing your waterintake

3. Start a new hobby: Haveyou always wanted to learn a newlanguage or play an instrument?Now is the perfect time to do so.Learning new things helps keepyour mind sharp.

4. Sleep Well: Research showsthat creating bedtime routines canhelp us sleep better at night. Startby going to bed at the same timeeach night.

5. Stay Social: Join an activityor sit with a new group duringmeal hours. Greet a new residentor join the weekly outing. Sharing

stories and laughs with friends canhelp keep you happier andhealthier.

Making one better decisioneach day can help us create goodhabits for life. It’s never too late tostart taking steps to improve ourhealth and live as fulfilled of a lifeas possible.

This free support group ispresented by the Alzheimer’sAssociation and Coast CaregiverResource Center. Worlds exhibit created by inventorDr. Gunther von Hagen. Thisexhibit displays real humanbodies. There are over 200plastinated specimens includingwhole bodies, organs, as well asthe various nervous, respiratoryand circulatory systems which aredisplayed. coming to an end, the Circle ofFriends has been enjoying asmuch time outdoors as possible.In combination with enjoying theoutdoors, we have also been fullyengaged in our arts and craftsprograms which included creatingunique glass works of art. Anotheractivity that COF is still enjoyingis gardening. We have gardenboxes on the COF patio where weare growing all sorts of vegetablesand herbs. Stop by soon to pick ahealthy snack!

with great memories. TheNeighborhood will be celebratingthe memory of getting childrenback into the swing of school,squeezing in last minutevacations, cheering on favoritefootball teams and getting readyfor the leaves and weather tochange.
