Social conventions regarding greetings between old friends vary among cultures. Within Hispanic populations, among men one can observe a firm handshake, often accompanied by a squeeze of the upper arm with the left hand. Men who are close friends or who share family ties often greet with an “abrazo” and pats on the back, and younger males are taught that not following this protocol is desrepectful. Women and men who have personal friendships often greet with a kiss on the cheek.

How do you greet your friends? Your family?
