We have been advised by BellSouth Tclccommunicadons that increased demand for telephonem1mhcrs aOO other te1~~uDic:~dans nccds in dx: At12nt2 area o:f Georgia ~~qwes the splittingof ~ existing 404 NPA aIK1 the simu1ta~ imroduaion of a ~'f 770 NPA.

The Atlama c-~change area. which L~ll~cs m~ of the area inside tbc Imcrswc 285 beltway, willretain the 404 NPA. With a few cxccpims. tbc rclD2ining pan of tbc alnaJr. 404 NPA will change to

The split of the 404 NPA. am ~ beginning of a pelmissive dialing ~ is scheduled for 12:01AM EDT on Tuesday, August 1. 1995. During ~ permissive dialing ~od. either 404 or 770 willbe acceptable in a dialed m1Inber tenni~ring in ~ new 770 NPA. The pel;'missive dialing periodwill elK! at 12:01 AM ESr cm Friday, December 1. 1995. Aftcr ~ penmssive period. calls dialedwith incorrect NPA codes, as dc~~ in the NPA split infoIJDaliml ~.!~li~ in the Local EY-c~'1geRouting Guide (LERG). will be routed to in1Crccpt. C1anges to the local exchange routinginformation will be iIK:Oqx>ra1ed intO dx: 1..FJ{G aIK1 ~ NP A NXX ACtivity Guide (NNAG).

Ceuttal offices in the area to be served by the TTO NPA will be InOOlfied on a progressive basis totransmit '"770" in the calling nwnber Automatic Number Identification (ANI) between August 1.1995 am Nov~bcr 1. 1995. BellSou1h will convert all tx:nincm ]t'CQ)rds to TTO ~ wcekfo:nd of July28. 1995. This includes CUStOmer service records am U-~-3L~ ]~A informalion in other systems.After July 30. 1995. all inquiries m~ refer to the correct NPA ax1e.
