WNC-615 (Wednesday Night Connection) Every

Wednesday night the church comes together for a great night of fellowship – a light meal @ 6:15pm and then at 7pm, Kids Ministry, Youth Group, and an Adult Worship & Bible Study called “thePlace-Worship & Word”. This is a great time of worship – we are digging into the WOW factor of Jesus – times when people turned to each other and said, “Did you just see what Jesus did?” Come & Grow with us as we Reach Out to our neighbors with the Hope of Jesus!

Sunday School / Small Groups It’s September and school has officially begun.

Here’s hoping for a great school year full of new

adventures for the kids!! There are some exciting

things happening in SS here at BCC too!!

Sara Laws will be with the little ones in the nursery

for Sunday school. In Busy Bees the children will

continue in the book of 1 Samuel as they learn

about David. Along with each lesson is a fun activity

to help them as they learn and grow in the Bible.

Aldara Moum will be teaching.

Edith Ivey is teaching Kids For Christ this month.

They are starting a new series for our 4th and 5th

graders beginning with lessons about Faith and

Science. And our teens will be upstairs over the

auditorium with youth leader Jacob Baskaron.

Believer or FOLLOWER? That question continues to penetrate my

heart. Every day I arise and go forth into the world - I am being challenged as to whether or not my faith is going to be one of a

believer who just acknowledges Jesus or am I going to live the life of a Disciple and live

out the faith of Jesus on this earth? So how do you know? What is the test of my faith in GOD? The Bible says, “you will know them

by their_____________?” (knowledge? bumper sticker? tee-shirt? tattoo?) I don’t

think so.... how about 'Fruit'? Jesus says, “a bad tree brings forth bad fruit and a good tree brings forth good fruit, any tree that

does not bring forth good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire” Yikes! You

see the test for my life & yours? What's the fruit look like?

MISSION TRIP TO HAITI BCC family – OUR trip to Haiti has been

moved to early next year (Spring). This note comes with a sad heart for having to move

this amazing trip – but because of 'unrest' we have decided to move it to a later date. This means that you can begin to pray about

going with us to Haiti in 2019. It's a great trip that will bless your heart & change your

life!

September Missions News

The Haiti Trip has been rescheduled for the Spring. Hopefully this may allow more people to go. Any monies given will be kept for that purpose. See John for more details. Scarlet Hope will be celebrating their 10th year of helping rescue women in the sex trade industry as they show them Christ’s love and offer job training to get out of that industry. Kyle Idleman from Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY will be the speaker at the fundraising Gala on 9/6. CICM – Because of your generosity, the Blood Bank project is fully funded, and will be the only blood bank in the district of Damoh, serving over 1.5 million people. Any additional funds received will be directly applied to the Hospital expansion. By adding 150 beds, CICM will be able to provide care for up to an additional 100,000 people each year. Heavy rains and storms destroyed four safe houses used for the persecuted church and about 70 feet of their safety wall at CICM’s campus where many children live was damaged. The cost to repair it will be $8,500. Waypoint Church Partners is hosting a Church Planting Conference on September 10-11 from a church they planted, New Life CC, in Chantilly, VA. Their #5 plant Forefront Church in Virginia Beach, VA celebrates almost 2,000 baptisms since they’ve been established, over 20 years. Waypoint is also hosting a Security Training Conference at First Christian Church in Kernersville on Saturday October 20 from 8am-3pm. They also continue to offer monthly seminars online for things like “Making Great First Impressions”, “Missions”, and “Elder Development”. For more info see Steve.

Worship Notes

What does it mean to love God with all of your heart?

Each year that I have taught Biblical Worldview, I begin the class by having students write a short essay on this subject. Most of the time I get replies about serving God, reading your Bible, or working more and trying harder. Each year I say the same thing and I always get the strangest looks. God created the angels to serve Him. That is their created purpose. He created man for two reasons: to glorify Himself, and to be in relationship with us. Many choose to view the role of God as Master and we as servant, but that is not entirely correct. A servant or slave has no free will. My question for us as a body of believers and fellow worshippers of Jesus is this: Are we living as servants of God, or are we living as sons and daughters of God, as joint heirs with Christ in all that is to come? Romans 8:14-17 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” This does not negate or change our submission to God’s authority or negate our desire to serve Him, but it does release us from a spirit of fear and bondage. We are called to walk freely, not as bondservants or slaves, but as heirs, the children of God. How differently would we live our lives if we claimed our son-ship and daughter-ship of the Most High King? How would your life be different? Part of loving God with your whole heart is understanding who you are in his eyes. He already knows all of the good and all of the bad and even the ugly, and still He has called you to walk in abundant life, or life to the full found in His Presence. If our hearts are not full of the joy of God, we need to look inside our hearts and ask these questions. What does it mean to love God with all of my heart, and is that where I’m at?

Thursday, September 6 – Seniors meet at Graham Cinema @ 9:30am, then lunch at Zaxby’s

Our students are back to school and the thing we want to accomplish is giving our students a couple of days during the week where they can recharge and unwind after all the frustrations from school, sports, or any other extracurricular that’s going on. We all know school can be really stressful, but that is why we have our church family. One thing we want to focus on is the rest that Jesus experienced while He spent time with the Father, but also the rest that Jesus is able to give us. It is important to understand that when we come to church, there is time for all our students to be themselves and not have to think about what other people think of them, and there is a place that they can experience Jesus in the most fun and loving way possible. As we go through scripture, the goal is to not necessarily understand it better, but to simply get our students to think about what the scripture says. When we think about what scripture says, most of the time it turns into understanding; the more we discuss what scripture says, the more we will understand. The important part is that we grow together in the scripture as a group.

What we have coming up is our Amazing Race event, which will be on October 12th-13th.
