Introduction 

Contrary to what it might seem, the protection of nature and of endangered                         species is a relatively recent concept, developed only a few decades ago as                       a result of human activity and development of industry. However, with                     progress and development of new technologies, programs that help                 endangered species fell behind, rarely using modern solutions to better                   carry out their objectives. 

Blockchain may be one of such modern technologies, which will help save                       successive species on the edge of extinction, by supporting foundations                   dealing with preservation. Blockchain is a type a database distribution                   model, which incorporates information encrypted in such a way that it                     cannot be modified from outside without the knowledge and consent of all                       the other holders of such information. With the use of blockchain, we can                         tokenise our actions basing its value on the success of the business, while                         allocating some of the funds to help the endangered species of proboscis                       monkeys. 

The blockchain technology gives a more transparent, safe, easier to track                     and more efficient way to operate currencies, shaping the market in a                       modern way, while protecting nature, creating interesting products, and all                   this to serve a good cause. 

The more species can be saved from the danger they are facing, the more                           popularity will be gained by the currency being the icon of the fight for the                             life of animals - we would like to propose such an icon to the world, starting                               with the popular species of proboscis monkeys, offering projects                 associated with that species with a range of products the sale of which                         may even further help protect them. 

 

 

1. Challenges and solution 

1.1 Endangered life of proboscis monkeys 

Originally living on the Borneo island, the proboscis monkeys are currently                     included in the list of animals at risk of extinction. Due to human activity in                             rainforest areas, the population of these monkeys has significantly                 decreased.

As the proboscis monkeys are animals living among trees, the lack of those                         trees prevents the normal functioning and growth of that animal population,                     while palm trees planted for the production of palm oil do not allow the                           proboscis monkeys to survive. For these reasons, the current population of                     these animals is said to count approximately 7,000 individuals, noting a fall                       in the population of over 80% in the span of the last 30 years only. 

 

1.2 Transparency in nature protection 

Our project aims to help protect the species of the proboscis monkey. For                         that purpose we support the following organizations::

“Research at the centre aims to determine the landscape-level requirements                   critical for the viable persistence of tropical species in highly                   fragmented landscapes. 

Focusing on multiple core species, we use advanced technologies such as                     camera traps, GPS collars, and drones to explore their survival                   mechanisms. In addition, we also gather information about population                 genetics, disease, toxicology, behaviour and classical ecology.             Through the knowledge we gain we can develop species action plans                     and landscape management guidelines for fragmented lowland             tropical forests.”

“If we hear of Borneo surely we will remember his fate and Orangutans are                           endangered due to destruction of forests. Whereas in Borneo                 contained a unique Primate, the proboscis monkey. He is currently                   endemic primates are also endangered due to population rise over the                     function of forests for oil palm plantations & pertabangan. 

I am very concerned with the fate of the proboscis monkey, and for that I                             founded an institution named "Sahabat Bekantan Indonesia" ( friend of

the proboscis monkey Indonesia), to protect and preserve the                 proboscis monkey.” 

 

1.3 Bekantan token as a solution 

For several years, on the Internet, one can see thousands of images with a                           funny animal with a big nose. Internet users very quickly accepted the hero                         of the memes as “Janusz”. 

Watching that online phenomenon as well as the original bekantan (this is                       the name of that animal in the local language), we have decided to combine                           the latest trends and technology with a campaign designed to help survive                       the entire breed. Hence the idea of the whole business project based on the                           Bekantan (BKN) crypto currency taking advantage of the latest trends in                     business.

The sale of the token will be divided into six stages. Each stage comprises                           from 2,000,000 to 3,500,000 BKN tokens and the expected period of the                       general sale is 14 months. The period may be extended and the company                         reserves the right to extend the period of sale in case of unsatisfactory                         levels of sale of the token. It results from the nature of BKN, where 25% of                               profits from sale will be transferred to organizations supporting the dying                     out species of the proboscis monkey.

In such a case the                         community will be appropriately informed. Some or all of them may                     be offered at an auction or in any other form covering the capital                         needs of the project. 

● 10% – MARKETING AND EVENTS 

Because of the nature of BKN, we try to keep the marketing budget on the                             lowest possible level. We want to provide real help and build real                       business without any unnecessary expenses. Many marketing             campaigns will be funded from own resources of the project and                     carried out by volunteers.
