John the Baptist Introduced Jesus as the Passover Lamb

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)

The blood of the Passover lamb

had helped secure Israel’s

deliverance from bondage.

“And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses… and when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 12:7,13)

Jesus, our Passover Lamb, was sacrificed for our deliverance

“…For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.” (1 Corinthians 5:7)

Jesus gave Himself quietly and humbly.

“… He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7)

His Precious blood paid the price for our sins. “…knowing that you were not

redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by

tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as

of a lamb without blemish and

without spot.”(1 Peter 1:18-19)

We Gain the Victory over Satan

by the Blood of the

Lamb

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and

by the word of their testimony, and they did not

love their lives to the death.” (Revelation 12:11)

In the Book of Revelation, the slain Lamb appears alive before the throne

of God with all power & knowledge “And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.” (Revelation 5:6)

He Leads the Redeemed to Living Water

“For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters.” (Revelation 7:17)

The Lamb Illuminates Eternity

“The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.” (Revelation 21:23)

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!” (Revelation 5:12)

He is Worthy of Every Soul’s Adoration

He is Worthy of Every Soul’s Adoration

And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!” (Revelation 5:13)

Let us adore and magnify the Lamb of

God together in our worship today.
