Grayson Clamp is one of the first children in the United States to receive an Auditory Brainstem Implant as part of an FDA-approved investigational device trial.

In June 2013, Graysonheard his father’s voice
for the first time.
The world cheered him on.

The auditory brain stem implant was a delicate surgery that required the work of a Head & Neck surgeon and a Neurosurgeon.
Grayson had two of UNC’s best –Drs. Craig Buchman and Matthew Ewend.

Grayson returns to Chapel Hill about twice a month for therapy and once every three months for device checks and hearing tests.

sound is meaningful. He is pairing sound
with visual informationand using it for
communication.
