You cannot really get the full experience of a fashion show unless you are there in person, but our Backstage Lounge Bar comes close to that. The hair and make-up, the candid models snaps, the funny settings… It is a pretty accurate representation of what really happens before and after the lights go down.

Behind the scenes

“ I started to perform in the Fashion Industry 6 years back. I would never have thought getting the opportunity to perform for several runway shows at Backstage Lounge Bar at the Hennessy Park Hotel.

Backstage supports local artists such as models, singers, and musicians amongst others through the Backstage Awards. Today, I can proudly say that my perseverance has been recognized by the experts of the Fashion Industry after winning the Backstage Award 2018 for the Best Female Model category.

I always keep an easy going and crazy personality on every catwalk and shooting to make it a blissful experience. At the end of the day, stay positive and do what makes you happy and flushed. If you want something, go for it!"

Spotlight on the local artistJason HeerahJason Heerah named as “The best singing drummer in the world’’ in 2014, launched his album, namely “Nou sime’’ at Backstage Lounge Bar in 2017 and ‘Tanpet’ in 2018. He is renowned for his soulful twist on everything he touches. Jason's extended passion includes writing, producing and releasing music on itunes, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon and Youtube from his JHRecords studio. His debut independent album ‘Chasing Love’ recorded in Melbourne was released in 2016 with the official clip by Island Music Label on YouTube, which captures the story of the Mauritian Kreol History, and this lead to several more songs for the Mauritian community worldwide.

Jimmy Gassel, very active in the nightlife universe and show business, is a true showman who ignites the dancefloor at Backstage Lounge Bar on Fridays and Saturdays with the concept ‘Spinnin Mix’ with live concerts by local artists.

He had an annual tour that made him go through France, Switzerland, Spain, Andorra, Mauritius, Reunion Island and many more while being accompanied by his artists, percussionists and dancers. The BORABORA (biggest disco of the South of France with a capacity of 4000 people) did right by offering him the residence in 2003 and since 2010; he has been occupying the post of director. In 2011, with the summer tours, he devoted himself exclusively to the artistic direction of the discotheque.After these years of residency, he finally decided to take off by doing the opening acts of David Guetta, Martin Solveig, Antoine Clamaran, and Martin Garrix amongst others, which allowed him to gain more experience.

Jimmy Gassel collaborates with female DJ Oriska and Morgan Nagoya on NRJ EXTRAVADANCE and has collaborated with DJ ASSAD during their December Indian Ocean tour since 2010.

Backstage Lounge Bar supports Mauritian and international artists through organized concerts. Once a month, artists are invited to perform LIVE in front of an amazing crowd.
