Mouthpiece, Ligature and Reed:

Get entire reed wet Tip should get the most moisture Use water or saliva to wet

-Water prevents some break down of reeds -Saliva is most convenient

Being careful with reed tip, insert the reed onto the mouthpiece/ligature “butt end” first

-Ligature should have screws at right side (when looking at the ligature from the reed side) -Ligature should be placed below the finished part of the reed (better lower than too high)

Adjust the reed in the ligature, giving care to vertical and horizontal alignment

-A hair line of black should be seen above the reed (up and down) -Center reed on mouthpiece at top and bottom—(side to side)
