Grammar Points
Today's grammar point is the command form of the verb "to call." First, let's
review the verb "to call." "I call" is " أتصل" ('attaSil) "You call" when said to a man
is " تتصل" (tattaSil). When said to a woman, it's " تتصلي" (tattaSilii). "He calls" is
those all how about think we If (tattaSil) "تتصل " is "calls She" .(yattaSil) " يتصل"
words sounded we can find a common stem, which is " إتصال" ('ittiSaal) Now, let's
order a man to make the phone call. It's " !إتصل " ('ittaSil!) So when we say "I
call", we start the verb with 'a, but in the command form, it's 'i. One more time, "I
call, Call!" ('attaSil, 'ittaSil!) For the feminine form, you just add "ii" to the end and
say "إتصلي " ('ittaSilii). To recap, let's say "Call!" to a man ('ittaSil) and then to a

woman ('ittaSilii).
Cultural Insight
When making international calls there are several additional numbers you have
to dial to redirect your call. First you have to dial a number to send your call out
of your country. For this number is 011, for Middle Eastern countries its 00. Next
you have to dial the country code of the country you are trying to call. For
example, Saudi Arabia is 966, Syria is 963, and Jordan is 962. Now that you've
dialed into the country, you have to dial an area code and finally the local
number. Calling Amman from the United States would then require 14 digits:
