Recently there have been an alarming number of dead fish and other marine life found along the banks of the rivers where you live. People have
been getting sick and are being admitted into the hospital.
The Challenge!You have been hired by an agency to investigate and report some probable
causes affecting the marine life in the area.
Some examples of agencies include:• EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)
• Corporations in the area
• Environmental Lawyer
• Concerned Citizen
• Scientist
NOTE: You will use the web to compile information for your PowerPoint
Presentation.
The Process1. The teacher will divide the class
into groups of three.
2. You will need to choose your role and research your job description. (Choose a search engine to begin.)

• Be sure to include a picture and description of your role.
• You will need to use technology related sources to locate possible causes of water pollution.
• List ten sources of water pollution.• List three ways pollutants affect surface and
ground water supplies.

• You should include a list of twenty things you can do to protect and prevent environmental pollution (water, land, and air).
