T he Christian Meditator, Rhonda Jones
I’ve Gone Full CircleLife is a journey that is to be lived one day at a time. When I started the journey of developing my Chris-tian meditation ministry, it was created out of pain and emptiness. Pain over an ending relationship and the emptiness of attending church week after week and feeling hopeless and depressed. Something was missing from my life. Through separating myself and learning how to be still before the Lord, I found out that what I was missing most was an interactive and intimate relationship with God.
Of course I had a relationship with God prior to all this, but it really was more intellectual than it was ex-periential. It was during this time that I began to rebel against the church. I felt pastors weren’t teaching us what we really needed
It was as though many were teaching transformation from the outside-in, but does that re-ally work? Doesn’t true and lasting transformation begin from within, from the inside-out? If we can deem anything from scripture, living a victorious Christian life is about God liv-ing through us and not trying to live for God in our own strength. We haven’t learned how to be still, to wait, or to listen. Because of this, we are taking our cues from the world or our circumstances and not from the internal leading of the Holy Spirit.
God uses all situations not only to guide us but to grow and mold us, and they are extremely valuable. Through them we gain new insights and perspectives. God said it so perfectly, “All things are working together for our highest good.” Therefore, we should make it a point to not resist but to persist in what is presenting itself at this moment. A good scriptural re-minder is “the race is not given to the swift but to Him who endures to the end.”
I’ve never really been the type of person that plays it safe. I am a risk taker. Not only that, I try to follow my heart. When Christian Meditation and Relaxation was birthed, most Chris-tians didn’t even know it existed. In fact, other than the World Community of Christian Meditation (a Christian Catholic organization), I had the only Christian meditation site on the web. Most people found me by accident or just by chance by typing the search terms “christian meditation” to see what showed up. My online survey still shows that, even eight years later, the vast majority of site visitors have never even heard of Christian meditation. Yet, something in their heart caused them to seek it out.
As Christians, it is important that we do not separate God from his nature. “God is a spirit and those who worship him but worship him in spirit and in truth.” I interpret the Spirit as God’s presence and the Truth as his Word. We need both. A Word or intellectual experience with God will leave us spiritually bankrupt and missing out on God’s love, peace, joy, and internal guidance. On the contrary, seeking God’s spirit alone neglects the power of God’s Word to renew our minds and purify our hearts. But together, God’s presence mixed with His Word is a power combination for internal and life transformation. I share this testi-mony today to let you know that your journey is not in vain. It’s Black History Month and Love is in the air!As we all know, Black history month is a time in which we celebrate not only the leg-ends that have made significant contribu-tions to our country but those whom live and those whom have died, who loved this country enough to devote their life to what they believed in.
We are also celebrating in the month of February LOVE. Love sustains all things, endures all things, hopes all things; Is all things! Love doesn’t need to be authenticat-ed to exist, it just does! Love will cause you to move beyond the natural to the supernat-ural when you awaken to the awareness that Love is God and Love is you.
Passion for the well being of others will cause you to move beyond what you think you can do, to the manifestation of what you have done and can continue to do. When your passion is people the boundaries are limitless and laws can be broken (changed). Because God so loved the world that the only begotten Son of God was given for a sacrifice to save the world from the law of sin and death so that every human being would have the right to the tree of life. What is the tree of life you may ask? That same tree that was in the Garden of Eden so many, many ages ago that mankind was forbidden to eat of, we now have a right to. Because of the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ we have been granted the right to eat of eternal life. He became the tree of life and we became the branches. Love is limitless…..
There are countless men and women who have come into this earth and sacrificed their lives for the benefit of mankind. They all carried a passion in their heart and a flame in their eye for the return of equality that God created us with and man seemed to have forgotten. Yes the Bible speaks of slavery and yes there were and still are slaves, however, that doesn’t mean human beings can be used, abused and treat-ed as if they are worthless. Every creation of the Holy Spirit of God has purpose and is worth more than we can ever imagine. If it were not so God would have to us.
Love will cause you to respect the living creations of God, yes we are gods, as the bible says we are, with the ability to pro-create, but we are not greater than God nor are we greater than each other. We are created equal in the image and likeness of the one and only GOD. Happy Love (valentines) Day!
