Each week, over 300 volunteers make it possible for us to reach 1,200 households in our community. We couldn’t do it without you.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old unlessworking with an adult leader or guardian.An application, screening and orientation process must be completed prior to volunteering. Read more about all the wonderful volunteer opportunities for people of all ages.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

St. Joseph Food Program provides supplemental nutrition, free of charge, for the economically distressed within our local communities.

WEEKLY VOLUNTEERINGOur greatest strength and biggest need is volunteers who commit regularly for a weekly shift on weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon, or Mondays from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Truck crews pick up donations from 7 to 10 a.m., seven days a week.

Volunteer tasks include:

Client assistance Administrative assistance Food distribution Writing thank you notes Sorting, stocking Truck crews for and packing food donation pick-up Gardening (seasonal)

GROUP PROJECTSGather a group of young and old alike to help St. Joe’swith a special project. The best times for groups areThursday or Friday mornings between 8 a.m. and noon,or Monday evenings between 4 and 8 p.m. Groups ofabout 10 people are ideal.

DONATION DRIVESCollect non-perishable food items that will help providesupplemental nutrition to some of the 1,200 householdswe serve each week. Monetary donations also go a longway at St. Joe’s. We are able to purchase items at pricesfar lower than most consumers. Consider donating fundsfrom birthdays, rummage sales, lemonade stands orstart a penny war with your classrooms or neighbors.

VOLUNTEER SUPPORTOur volunteers work very hard every week of the year.We simply couldn’t do what we do without them. Show how much you appreciate what they do for the community by bringing in special treats, hosting an appreciation event, or making handmade thank you cards, posters and more.

CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPSLooking for a way to get your employees engaged in the community? Does your company require volunteer hours? We can accommodate occasional hourly needs or even set-up a volunteer program within your organization.

GROW A ROWSet aside a row in your family garden and donate any harvested produce from that row to St. Joe’s. Our donation hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. or Monday evenings from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Please use the Donations and Volunteer Entrance at the northeast corner of the building.

SPECIAL EVENTS VOLUNTEERSSt. Joe’s benefits from many fundraisers and events. We need individuals or small groups to represent St. Joe’s as volunteers at these activities. Examples of these events would be the Boy Scout Food Drive, Pacesetters 5K Run/Walk and various golf outings.

INTERNSHIPSGreat experiences are available for students in any course of study including Human Services, Human Resources, Nutrition and Dietetics.
