Why You
Should
Consider
Joining
A Fraternity
& Why
Is Your
Best Choice!
StrongBrotherhoodAs a fraternity member you’ll meet students of various backgrounds. Theideal fraternity experience affords its members a close bond of friendship& cooperation is fostered. At Lambda Chi, by living our core values, we’vedeveloped a close bond among a diverse group of men who desire todevelop into servant leaders.
“Before joiningLambda Chi, I thought of
a fraternity as parties,girls & a cool house. After
bonding with all of my brothers,I see so many more benefits.”
Andrew Smith ‘16
“During Rush, my big thing was to find a place that would accept me for theway I am. I’m from North Carolina & didn’t grow up in Alabama like manyAuburn students did. Because of this, sometimes I think & act a littledifferently than they do. Despite these differences, I was immediatelyaccepted & I’m proud to be a Lambda Chi. Our brothers come from all overthe U.S. & I believe that diversity makes us a stronger fraternity. The brothers& associates treat each other with respect & look out for each other.”Phillip Hughes ‘16

“It was in 1915 that Lambda Chi built the 1st fraternity house on theAuburn (then A.P.I.) campus. In 1950, we built a new house at our currentlocation. Over the years, we’ve added adjacent property & today we’reone of only six fraternities who own their own land & facility. Our alumnihave contributed over $1,000,000 in the last 5 years to help pay for theconstruction of our new house.” Ellis Spurlock ‘14, Treasurer
OutstandingLocation& FacilityLambda Chi Alpha fraternity’s location is the most convenient of allfraternities. We’re close to campus classrooms, bookstores/downtown,the football stadium & student center. Our house was completelyremodeled in 2003. Our dorm wing offers double or single occupancy, large rooms with 10’ ceilings, private baths & high speed internet at rentalrates 10% below university housing. Our kitchen serves 14 meals perweek at 10% below the cost of university meal plans. Members enjoy freeparking, a beach volleyball court, a large outdoor courtyard,library/study, game room & TV lounge.
Reason # 3 - Location & Facility
“The house designwas inspired bythe work ofCharles RennieMackintosh,a Scottisharchitect. Thedorm is 10,000 sq. ft., has 20 rooms with space for 40members with double occupancy & the main building is over 10,000 sq. ft.with kitchen, dining room, social room, living room & game areas.”Kyle Eichman ‘13, House Manager

Great Social EventsThe fraternity experience provides an opportunity to developa well-rounded personality & enhance social skills throughsuch events as sorority socials. From events like our homefootball game weekend band parties in the fall to ourfour-day Epicurea Party in the spring, we rank as havingone of the best social calendars of all fraternities.
“At parties, FBL Security checks IDs, making sure those attendingthe party are on the guest list & they are there to see that noone gets hurt.”
Charlie Almond ’15, Risk Manager
Reason # 4 - Social
The RightNumber of MembersLambda Chi Alpha hasaveraged 125 membersduring the last four years & we’re the 4th largest of the 28 Auburn fraternities. We’re small enough to getto know all members & large enough to fund excellent Rush & social programs. All brothers & associatesare expected to serve ona committee... many timesthis leads to beingelected an officer.
“Being a responsiblechapter officer has helpedme become more ‘other-oriented’ vs. ‘self-oriented’& I’ve gotten a lot ofsatisfaction from servingmy fellow brothers.”John Lapenta ‘14
“It was in 1972 when Lambda Chi became the first fraternity at Auburnto replace pledges with associatemembers. Since that time, associatemembers have had full & equal rightsin the chapter, including the ability toattend functions & meetings, vote, holdoffice & wear the letters & regalia of thefraternity. Our fraternity educationprogram is focused on our Core Values.” Jake Brackhan ‘15, Fraternity Education Chairman

“My experience as a LambdaChi officer helped me developskills needed to manage a multi-unit business which I sold &retired early. Now, I’m giving back as Chairman of theAlumni Advisory Board.” Bill Lee ‘70
”My years as a Lambda Chi at Auburn taught me manythings, the most important of which was how to get alongwith guys of all types - guys that were different from me,had different backgrounds, upbringings & were from placesmuch different than my hometown in southeast Alabama.Learning how to work, play & live with those guys hasenabled me to do the same in my life after college - aninvaluable lesson, in my opinion - & one that can only belearned from membership in a fraternity that has alwaysprided itself on its diversity.” Jimmy Brennan ‘72
