• 29MW Wood fired power generating facility burning clean

wood with 110,000 ton/year wood pellet manufacturingfacility located here.

• The facility will create approximately 900 jobs during

What Is the Project?

,

full time indirect jobs in forestry and other businesses.

• Produces two forms of renewable energy.

• Investment of $250,000,000 in Pownal

• Project will be the cleanest biomass power plant and pelletplant in the Country.

 Beaver Wood’s

Pownal Biomass Project will.. Manufacture renewable energy using a locally-grown crop.

Significantly reduce Greenhouse Gases created by other energy sources.

Provide approximately 50 good paying clean energy jobs in Pownal at the“Integrated Facility” site.

4

Provide base-load power for Vermont’s economy and renewable energygoals.

Provide high quality Wood Pellets, a source of green fuel for Vermont’shomes and businesses. 110,000 tons of wood pellets equal approximately

13 million gallons of #2 heating oil.

Cleanest emissions of any biomass power plant ever constructed in thecountry.

Why Biomass Power and Pellets? Both of these forms of renewable energy reduce our reliance on foreign

oil, natural gas, nuclear and coal.

Both reduce Green House gas Emissions and our “carbon footprint”

Both help us to stop exporting jobs by generating power here.

Both help us preserve our forests. Biggest threat is diminishing value. Our

pro ect: Increase the value of our forest by providing markets for lowest grade trees and waste

Also increases jobs in forestry

Use of waste from harvesting and use of low grade wood for making pellets also Increases forests ability to

sequester carbon

Proper harvesting and forest management improves animal habitat

2005, Vermont Legislature passed SPEED “Sustainably Priced Energy

Development Program” promoting development of in-state renewable

energy generation. 5% of load by 2012 20% of load by 2017

Biomass creates many more jobs than other renewables.

Current energy contracts expiring and the uncertain future operation of VT

Yankee, the state is in need of new, clean energy sources. 5

Biomass Provides Base-Load Power

Other than approx 10 days/year for

maintenance our facilities will provide power24/7, improving the stability and reliability of

’ .

Biomass complements solar, wind and other

renewables.

Beaver Wood plants are designed to minimize waste andmaximize output and efficiency.

Beaver Wood projects have anEFFICIENT DESIGN

,

fuel source for heating homes, schools and businesses.

Plant designed to provide thermal energy to others which

could include future tenants of the Park.

Unique design unmatched in the U.S.

No construction or demolition wood, only forest and sawmill residue Significant majority (80+%) of fuel harvested within 50 mile radius:

3.2 million acres of timberland, 79% of which is privately owned.

Current saw lo removal of a rox. 552 000 tons ear

Plenty of Pellet Feedstock and Biomass

FuelSummary of key statistics

Current pulp wood + fire wood removal of approx. 1.2 million tons/yearBWE would add approximately 200,000 tons of harvest for pellet facility

There is plenty of waste from these 3 to provide most of our fuel for the

power plant and leave approximately 50% in the woods

growth exceeds harvest by over 2.4 million tons/year.

1.3 million tons of saw logs

1.1 million tons of pulp and lower quality wood

Sustainability : Modeling the impact on standing timber within a 50 mile radius over

20 years starting today, the standing timber inventory would increase 27 million tons

with all other markets holding steady. 23

2000-2009 Bennington County lost 11.2% of its jobs

Pownal lost 19.5%

County compared to the State Pownal and Bennington County have lost jobs in the last decade at a much higher rate

than the State

Our project can help reverse these trends!

o Total annual increase of state taxes (sales tax, income tax, corporate income tax,

statewide school property tax) estimated 2.3 million

Regional Economic ImpactCreated by Economic Consulting, Inc.

Pownal Municipal Property Tax Revenues

$525,000 net revenue from property taxes (45% of property tax receipts)

For example, if your home is valued for tax purposes at $161,000 you will experience atax reduction of $280.00 per year.

The 2009 average annual daily traffic on RTE 7 at the site was over 7000 vehicles.

Project will have approximately 82 trucks per day delivering fuel and pellet feed stock, 14

trucks per day delivering finished pellets. This equals 96 trucks per day – about 1.4%increase in traffic.

The level of service, both northbound and southbound will retain the highest level of service,

which is a Grade A.

Neither a left nor a ri ht turn lane is warranted.

be used. (approx 20% of the time)

• Daily water use 150-430 gals/min (based on outside temp)

• 82% of water is used for cooling which is simply evaporated

• After evaporation and other plant uses remaining water (15%)

is discharged into a leach field.

• Materials left in water are what was originally in the water at

a higher concentration• Entire process is closely scrutinized during the permitting

process to ensure water remaining is not environmentally
