GREAT NAILS ARE AN ART

Want to train as a hairdresser? Can’t wait to get started? Have a go at recreating this fishtail plait.Brush the hair and tie into a ponytail. Split the ponytail into two. Take a thin slice of hair from the outer edge of one section of hair and take it across the centre to join the second. Do the same from the other side. Repeat until the plait is complete. Secure with a bobble.

MAKE BAD HAIR DAYS A THING OF THE PAST

If you enjoy making people look and feel good, then a career in beauty therapy could be for you. A typical day would include carrying out face and body treatments.

Do you enjoy working with people and enjoy hairstyling? As a fully trained hairdresser, you would be expected to cut, colour and style clients’ hair.

Working as a nail technician requires a creative and patient nature. You would be expected to carry out a range of nail services including manicures, pedicures and decorating nails.

CONTOURING - GET THE LOOKHave you heard of contouring? It’s the celebrity secret to shaping and defining your features. Want to give it a go? Beauty Therapy student Tia Gill, of Norton, offers some tips.Cleanse, tone and moisturise. Apply foundation to create a flawless base. Apply highlighter or concealer (two shades lighter than your usual shade) to areas you want to enhance, such as cheek bones, brow bones and the curve of your top lip. Blend. Apply a darker foundation or bronzer to areas where you would like to add definition, such as under the cheek bones and under the chin. Blend. Apply alight blusher to the apples of your cheeks.
