Pedestal Paving


Laying paving on pedestals is a popular installation

technique that brings a range of attractive benefi ts.

However, failure of pedestal pavers due to heavy

impact loads can put pedestrians at a higher risk of

injury from falling, compared to a standard paving

installation on a solid base.

Anston’s pedestal paving range has been carefully

engineered to resolve this issue. A sturdy steel mesh

is embedded within the body of the paver, ensuring

that any fractures in the paver do not affect its

structural integrity.

SQUARE EDGE BULLNOSE DROPDOWN

Anston’s engineered pool coping solutions are the

designer’s choice for traditional and modern pools.

In addition to our extensive selection of standard sizes, we can create bespoke curved or

straight coping pieces to suit renovations of existing pools or creation of entirely new designs.

Our versatile coping formats can double as step treads for both internal and external

applications, as well as wall capping, garden edging or plinths.

All coping units are made to order. Please allow a lead time of 4-5 weeks for standard products

and 7-8 weeks for custom products.

All coping units are made with a blasted fi nish. We do not apply

honed fi nishes to pool coping as honed surfaces can be very slippery

utilising a delightful blend of soft and hard materials.

Circular planters have an internal wall taper, starting with a 70mm thickness at the top that

widens to a 100mm wall thickness at the base.

All planters are available in any of the 25 Anston colours. Custom colours are also available.

Finishes available are light, medium and heavy blast. Rectilinear planters are also available in a honed or polished fi nish.

Rectilinear Planters

Anston’s large-format rectilinear planters are dual in functionality. Not only do they provide a strong,

durable container for housing a garden bed, they are also immovable physical barriers due to their weight,

particularly when fi lled with soil.

Rectilinear planters are commonly used in place of vehicular bollards as a means of pedestrian safety.

The placement of outdoor furniture enriches the

relationship between user and landscape.

Anston’s furniture range is available in all 25 Anston colours and a standard blasted fi nish.

Custom colours and mixes, and a honed or polished fi nish, are also available upon request.

Outside our standard range, Anston offers fully customised pieces tailored to unique project

requirements. Our in-house fabrication and engineering expertise allows us to assist clients

throughout the fulfi lment process. We like to begin the conversation as early as product

specifi cation, seeing each project right through to its fi nal outcome.

COLOUR / ‘Here and Now’ show garden, MIFGS 2014

Our design team has the fl exibility to produce custom paving in a wide variety

of traditional and non-traditional colours. This 2014 show garden featured a

custom colour, Cuban Turquoise, created specifi cally for this project.

MATERIALITY / Acland Street Pedestrian Plaza, St Kilda VIC

Various stones and other materials such as coloured glass can be added to a

concrete mix to produce an additional design detail. For example, the custom

paving mix produced for the Acland Street project features a bluestone

aggregate that matches the existing bluestone on site.

SHAPE / Cluden Street residence, Brighton East VIC

The renovation of this back garden involved an retrofi t of the paving and

pool coping around the existing kidney-shaped pool. The pool curvature was

measured on site, and custom coping units were then produced in the Anston

factory to match the existing curve.

FORM / St Kilda Promenade Upgrade

Concrete is a versatile material and can produce all sorts of interesting

curves and shapes. The geometric concrete benches installed at the St Kilda

Foreshore use striking lines and bold edges to create a unique design.

MIX DESIGN / Box Hill Institute

Custom concrete mix designs provide a world of choice, as the base colour

and aggregate material selections impact the appearance of the fi nal product.

Special outdoor benches at the Box Hill Institute were produced in a charcoal

base colour, embedded with photovoltaic fragments that glow in the dark.

PERSONALISATION / Tarneit spheres

For an extra touch, details such as stencilled or imprinted images, letters or

patterns can be added onto the surface of our products. For example, this

detailed frog silhouette is easily visible against the exposed aggregate fi nish of

the sphere.
