Cox’s BazarCox’s bazar is a seaside town, a fishing port and district headquarter in Bangladesh, is known for it’s wide and long beach which is considered as the world’s longest natural sandy beach. The beach in Cox’s bazar is unbroken 125 kilometers sandy sea beach with a gentle slope.
Cox’s bazarIt consists of 8 Upazilas , 27 wards , 67 Union parishad and 975 villages.
Upazilas : Cox’s bazar sadar , Chakaria,RamuUkhiya,Teknaf,Kutubdia, Pekua andMaheshkhali.
Population: 17 lacs 57 thousand 3 hundred 21 people
History
In 1799 the East India company appointed captain Hiram Cox to rehabilitate the Arakanese Refugees. On arrival there , he defeated the Burmese king in a battle and rehabilitated the Refugees . After the war he set up a market in that place which was called Cox’s Bazar after him.

The flamboyant township at the head of a 120 kmlong beach with lines of fancy shops on either sidesof Cox’s bazar main road ,calm and peacefulKhyangs and Pagodas , Rakhyne quarters , fishharbour of Kostura ghat , the sights of the risingsun and setting of it into The Bay of Bengal – alltogether gives the aura of a fairy land – a touristparadise.
Laboni beachLaboni beach is the main beach of Cox’s bazar .It is the closest sea beach to the town.
Inani beachInani beach is located 35 km south of Cox’s bazar main town.It is famous for its golden sandand clean water.
HimchariHimchari is located about 18 km south to the Cox’s bazar main town . It is famous for its water fall.
St. Martin’s Island The only coral islandIn Bangladesh .It is afamous tourist spot.
TeknafA romantic old-world township in the southern tip of Bangladesh territory going through the Myanmar high hill ranges across the river Naf.
MoheshkhaliAn island in the Bay in the north western direction of Cox’s bazar.
SonadiaIt is about 7 km away from Cox’s bazar main town and about 9 square km in area.
RamuA small buddhist village Ramu is 15 km away from Cox’s bazar town. World biggest Buddhist temple is situated in Ramu.
