ASSOCIATION) Retrained Racehorse Challenge Mare/gelding, 4yrs old or over and of any height. Riders must be 15yrs old or over on the 1st January. Horses to be ridden in any suitable bridle and should be plaited. All entries must be registered with RoR and HAVE raced in GB. Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series.The first three go forward to the final at the RoR championship, Aintree in August 2018 or 2019 for shows after 1st August 2018. Horses will NOT be ridden by the judges. Horses may be stripped for conformation at the discretion of the judge.

Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. The class to be judged 50% jumping 20% style while jumping and performance and 30% awarded for show, manners and suitability to be retrained. PHASE 1: Jumping to be judged: 8 rustic jumps (2’6” to 3’ with a maximum spread of 85 centimeters). The following points to be deducted at the end of each jumping round: 10 points to be deducted for a knock down, 15 points to be deducted for a refusal, 20 points for second refusal. Elimination for third refusal or fall. PHASE 2: Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. (In some classes, at the judge’s discretion, horses might be asked to do a ‘show’ following their jumping without leaving the ring. This is often the case with a larger number in class). Each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than 1½ minutes. Show to include the following movements: walk, trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter (gallop), halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Total marks out of 30% for Show, manners and suitability to be retrained. Fences for the final at Aintree can be up to a maximum of 3’6’’ Prizes: Rosettes 1st to 6th and Vouchers 1st to 4th place. 1st £50 plus voucher for jacket, 2nd £25, 3rd £20, 4th £10. Veteran prize (15+): £25 voucher to be redeemed from RoR office and qualification for the Veteran final RoR Championships at Aintree. However, in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS(UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS(UK) Championship Show will be held on 30th August – 1st September 2018. Shows held on or after the postal entry closing date of Championship Show will count as 2019 qualifiers. Rural WrappingsSide Saddle Association Qualifier 2018
Class 43 The Side Saddle Association Equitation Championship Open Qualifier Run under S.S.A. Rules defined in the current Members’ Handbook. Open to S.S.A. Members and Non-Members. Members carrying their current Championship Points Card are eligible for S.S.A. rosettes to 3rd Adult and 3rd Junior places and S.S.A. Championship Points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed Member aged under 14 on 1st January of the current year. Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Stud Show Centre to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out. Competitors must wear a hat to current British Safety Standard or above.
Class 44 Best Horse Or Pony Ridden Side Saddle Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed Member aged under 14 on 1st January of the current year. Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Stud Show Centre to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out. Competitors must wear a hat to current British Safety Standard or above.
Class 45 Side Saddle Concours d’Elgance • The Judge must be on the current SSA or any appropriate Judging
panel but may be assisted by a Celebrity or Sponsor • Where these classes are a main ring attraction Shows may, at their
discretion limit entries to Adult competitors only and the rosette provided for the highest placed Junior will not be awarded.
The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse and rider. Attention may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays. 2 Special rosettes will be awarded to the highest placed Adult Member and the highest placed Junior Member of the SSA carrying their current Championship Points Cards. Competitors must wear a hat to current British Safety Standard or above.

Entry Fee £10 (£2 extra on the day) Thoroughbred mare/gelding, 4 yrs old or over, any height. Rider must be 15 years
or over on 1st January. To take part in this class, horses must NOT have won any open class (inc. SEIB/HOYS, RoR Tattersalls Show Series Qualifier, TARRA Ridden, RoR AMATEUR Ridden Show Series Qualifier or any other open class except RoR TBA Challenge Show Series classes). Horses will be de-noviced after 3 novice wins or any open win, but is still eligible to compete at the RoR National show that August. Horse should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horse should be plaited. The first three go forward to the championship at the RoR National Show at Aintree in August 2017 or 2018 for shows after 1st August 2017 to the 31st July 2018. All entries MUST be registered with the RoR and have RACED in GB. The class will be run under the rules of RoR. Horses will NOT be ridden by the judge; each horse to complete an individual show or no longer than 1 ½ minutes to include the following movements: walk, trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter, halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Horses will be stripped for confirmation. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Please be aware that the show will split the class on the horse’s last run in a race (NH or Flat) should the entries exceed 20. Please mark your entry form accordingly. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with chin strap. Racing injuries and blemishes are NOT IGNORED in this series. Class 56 EXERCISE VEHICLE – ANY HEIGHT Single, pair or tandem horse (s) or pony (s) mule (s) 4 years or over driven to a utility or pneumatic wheeled vehicle two or four wheeled only (no traditional vehicles). Vehicles must be clean, tidy and safe for everyday driving across mixed terrain. Pony/horse/mule must be correctly harnessed and spares must be carried. Whips should be appropriately dressed. This will be judged under BDS rule and The class may be split at the Judges and or Show Secretary’s discre-tion depending on entries.
Class 57 PRIVATE DRIVING CLASS UNDER 13.2 and OVER 13.2 For horse(s) or pony(s) 4 years or over harnessed to a well main-tained vehicle suitable for an amateur to drive on the road, as a single, tandem or pair. This will be judged under BDS rules and the class may be split at the Judges and Show Secretary’s discretion depending on entries.
Class 58 PRIVATE DRIVING CLASS OPEN with drive For horse(s) or pony(s) 4 years or over harnessed to a well maintained vehicle suitable for an amateur to drive on the road, as a single, tan-dem or pair. Spares may be required to be shown. Commercial and Hackney wagons barred. This will be judged under BDS rule and the class may be split at the Judges and or Show Secretary’s discretion depending on entries. After preliminary judging there will be a dive of not less than 4 miles those successfully completing the drive will receive a BDS Show drive Rosette.
