Newman’s News Dear Families,
This year, the Beadle Lake staff read a life-changing book called The Leader
in Me by Stephen and Sean Covey. The Leader in Me promotes the develop-
ment of core principles such as responsibility, vision, integrity, teamwork,
collaboration and renewal in young children. The book teaches these
principles through “The 7 Habits of Happy Kids”.
We spent the first couple of months of school introducing students to each of
the 7 Habits. For our next step, we will explore each habit more in depth. For
the month of December, we will be focusing on Habit 2: Begin with the End
in Mind.
We strongly encourage you to read about the 7 Habits at home. We cannot say how powerful this
book study has been for us. Not only do we use the habits at school, but we use them at home with
our own children too. Check out the website for resources: www.theleaderinme.org

Habit #2
Begin With The End in Mind Have a Plan
I plan ahead and set goals for
myself.
I am prepared at all times.
I think about how the choices
I make now will affect my
future.
I think about the positive or
negative consequences of my
actions before I act.

November Perfect Attendance Students!
Winter Dress and Recess Winter is upon us and snow will soon be on the ground!
Please remember that students will be outside during
recess and must have proper winter gear.
Kindergarten through 2nd grade students must have
winter coats, snow pants, boots, gloves or mittens.
Students without these will have to stay on paved areas
during recess.
We will allow 3rd and 4th grade students to be on the
snow without snow pants however, you can require
snow pants as you deem fit (they will still need to wear boots). Students who repeatedly come in wet,
will lose this privilege and will have to wear snow pants at all times while there is snow on the ground.
