Beaded Tealight Covers An exclusive design by Sarah Cox for Debbie Bliss SIZE Approximately 20cm/8in long by 6cm/2 1 / 4in high MATERIALS For 3 covers: One 50g ball of Debbie Bliss Rialto 4 ply in Sea Green 37. Pair of 3.25mm (US 3) knitting needles. One tube of Gutermann 6mm Round Faceted Glass Beads 6975 in Dark Grey AB or 33 beads of your choice to complement the yarn. TENSION 28 sts and 38 rows to 10cm/4in square over st st using 3.25mm (US 6) needles. ABBREVIATIONS cm = centimetres; k = knit; p = purl; st(s) = stitch(es); st st = stocking stitch; tbl = through back loop; tog = together; yon = yarn over needle; yrn = yarn round needle. TO MAKE Thread 11 beads per cover onto the yarn before casting on. With 3.25mm (US 3) needles, cast on 68 sts. 1st row (right side) K2, [p1, yon, k2tog tbl, p1, k2] to end. 2nd row P2, [k1, p2] to end. 3rd row K2, [p1, k2tog, yrn, p1, k2] to end. 4th row P2, [k1, p2] to end. These 4 rows form the pattern and are repeated a further 4 times (20 rows worked). K 1 row. P 1 row. Next row (right side) K3, * bring yarn to front of work between needles, slide bead up to needle, take yarn over needle and k2tog tbl, k4; rep from * ending the last rep, k3. Cast off purlwise. Block and lightly steam, then join the seam. Slip the cover over the glass holder, making sure the cover sits well below the top edge of the glass.
