Cape Regional Health System is proud to announce that it now offers a telemedicine program – Cape Regional OnDemand.

The telemedicine program offers access to primary care services through a network of board certified physicians who you can connect to via voice and video technology. Patients can use Cape Regional OnDemand to connect with a physician using their cell phone, tablet or computer webcam. The program allows physicians to see and talk with patients, enabling them to remotely diagnose and recommend treatments. Providers are available any time day or night, 365 days a year – including holidays.

“Cape Regional OnDemand will act as a first step for patients seeking after-hours care,” says Fran Morrison, Director of Health System Integration for Cape Regional. Patients can receive guidance on minor injuries, stomach ailments, cold and flu symptoms and more, and doctors can advise patients whether they can heal at home or should go to the emergency room. Physicians can also use Cape Regional OnDemand to provide patients with new prescriptions and visit summaries from prior visits.

Cape Regional OnDemand is private and secure to best protect patients’ privacy. The program uses robust encryption methods to safeguard a user’s personal information.

Cape Regional Health System’s New Ambulatory Surgery Center Groundbreaking

Cape Regional Health System recently broke ground for the construction of a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center on the medical center’s campus.

“This is a significant milestone for our Health System as we advance the delivery of surgical and endoscopic services for the residents and visitors of Cape May County,” said Joanne Carrocino, FACHE, President and CEO of Cape Regional Health System.

The center is designed with the optimal patient experience in mind and every aspect of the 19,000-square foot surgery center focuses on the enhancement of each patient’s convenience, comfort and care.

“This surgery center is being built for today’s needs and will accommodate future technological advances,” said Jeffrey P. Tenner, DO, Chairman of Cape Regional’s Department of Surgery and a surgeon with Cape Regional Physicians Associates. “This modern environment with the latest technologies is a tremendous advancement for our team of surgeons as well as surgeons who join us in the future.”

Cape Regional’s surgeons, gastroenterologists and anesthesiologists will utilize the new center to provide a variety of services including orthopedic/sports medicine surgery, urogynecological surgery, vascular surgery, hand surgery, endoscopy procedures, podiatric surgery and pain management. The center is expected to be operational by summer 2020.

Capital Campaign Call to the CommunityTo support the funding for the Ambulatory Surgery Center, Cape Regional Foundation has launched the “Building a Healthier Tomorrow” capital campaign with a fundraising goal of $10 million.

“We have been working diligently behind the scenes on our capital campaign and have made great progress with more than $3.1 million committed to the campaign to date,” said Thomas Piratzky, Executive Director of Cape Regional Foundation. “This campaign is an important opportunity to partner with the community as we work together to bring this state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center to Cape May County.”

The capital campaign offers donors various naming opportunities and all gifts and pledges can be made over a three to five-year period to enable donors to make larger gifts to the campaign.


Highlights of the new surgery center include:n Seamless and efficient care from reception to pre-op, operating suites to post-op

recovery, and then home, all on the same day

n Four 600-square foot operating suites and two large endoscopic suites, optimally designed for a broad range of complex surgical and endoscopic procedures

n Advanced, specialized technology for today’s sophisticated surgeries including modern high-definition video equipment to enhance the surgical team’s minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure capabilities

n Separate pre-op and post-op recovery areas designed for enhanced patient comfort and privacy

n Dedicated parking, separate entrance and discharge areas for convenient access

n Staffed by Cape Regional’s highly-skilled team of experienced physicians, nurses and technicians who specialize in outpatient surgical care.

15th Annual 7 Mile Island Home & Health Show and Designer House Tour Coming August 10Mark your calendar for the highly anticipated summer event of the year — Cape Regional’s 7 Mile Island Home & Health Show and Designer House Tour taking place Saturday, August 10.

Celebrating its 15th year, the Designer House Tour – from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – features 12 stunning homes in Avalon and Stone Harbor. From an oceanfront, or bayfront home or renovated cottage, each unique and beautifully designed home is a must see! Tickets for this year’s Designer House Tour are $35 each.

The Home and Health Show, held at Avalon Elementary from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., is a great opportunity for members of the community and summer visitors to learn more about the many services and programs provided at Cape Regional Health System. Admission is free.

Cape Regional Miracles Fitness, a full-service fitness center, has been serving the Cape May County community for more than 20 years. Management ServicesCape Regional Home Health Care | Managed by BAYADA has been providing short-term nursing and therapy to patients in the comfort of their own homes since 2016 and now, hospice care and an integrated medication management program have been added to the list of services offered.

Hospice ProgramBeginning this year, Cape Regional Home Health Care | Managed by BAYADA is collaborating with BAYADA Hospice to offer comprehensive clinical, social, emotional and spiritual services for end-of-life care. The hospice program, staffed by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, medical social workers, nurses, aides, bereavement support staff, chaplains and psychosocial managers, will provide support both to patients at the end of life and their families. Hospice staff work together with a patient’s health care team to manage pain and symptoms, organize and honor last

wishes, and provide spiritual care, helping patients come to terms with their lives. Volunteer services ensure that someone can provide companionship to a hospice patient, simply reading aloud or sitting with them, or help the office with administrative tasks. After a patient passes away, Cape Regional Home Health Care | Managed by BAYADA provides 13 months of bereavement support for families.

“It’s our mission to show both the medical community and the patients of Cape Regional that our hospice program enables patients to have an end of life that’s full and meaningful,” said Patrick Hollern, Director of Cape Regional Home Health Care | Managed by BAYADA.

Medication ManagementThe newly introduced integrated medication management program provides monthly supplies of pre-sorted, pre-packaged medication delivered directly to the client’s door, in-home nurse consultations to help the client understand their medications, and monthly follow ups to answer questions, address concerns and make any necessary adjustments directed by the client’s physicians.

“By combining in-home nursing support with best-in-class pharmacy services, we are able to really educate our clients and support their medication needs, leading to higher adherence rates and better clinical outcomes. We strive every day to ensure our home health care clients remain safe, happy and healthy at home – the place they most want to be. This medication management program only further supports that mission,” Hollern said.
