    Measurement and Control Systems

The CR800 and CR850 dataloggers provide precision measurement capabilities in a rugged, battery-operated package. Both models

consist o measurement electronics encased in a plastic shell and an integrated wiring panel. The standard operating range is -25 to

+50C. An extended range o -55 to +85C or the CR800 or -30to +80C or the CR850 is also available.

    Communication Options

To determine the best option or an application, consider the accessibility o the site, availability o services (e.g., cellular phone or

satellite coverage), quantity o data to collect, and desired time between data-collection sessions. Some communication options can

be combinedincreasing the fexibility, convenience, and reliability o the communications.

the RTMCRT and RTMC Web Server clients, which use orms

created in the developer mode o RTMC.

    The SDM-SIO1 Serial Input/

    Output Module is ully

    compliant with the RS-232

    standards. It allows a

    CR800 or CR850 to com-

    municate with up to

    17 serial devices.

Both LoggerNet and RTDAQ use View Pro to display historical

ANALOG INPUTS (SE1-SE6 or DIFF1-DIFF3)3 differential (DF) or 6 single-ended (SE) individuallyconfigured input channels. Channel expansion pro-vided by optional multiplexers.

RANGES and RESOLUTION: Basic resolution (BasicRes) is the A/D resolution of a single conversion.Resolution of DF measurements with input reversalis half the Basic Res.

Range (mV)1 DF Res (V)2 Basic Res (V)

    2.5 0.33 0.67

1Range overhead of ~9% on all ranges guarantees thatfull-scale values will not cause over range.

2Resolution of DF measurements with input reversal.

    ACCURACY3:(0.06% of reading + offset), 0 to 40C

(0.12% of reading + offset), -25 to 50C(0.18% of reading + offset), -55 to 85C (-XT only)3Accuracy does not include sensor and measurement noise.Offsets are defined as:

    Offset for DF w/input reversal = 1.5Basic Res + 1.0 V

    Offset for DF w/o input reversal = 3Basic Res + 2.0 V

    Offset for SE = 3Basic Res + 3.0 V

INPUT NOISE VOLTAGE: For DF measurementswith input reversal on 2.5 mV input range; digitalresolution dominates for higher ranges.

    0.3C, -25 to 50C0.8C, -55 to 85C (-XT only)

ANALOG OUTPUTS (Vx1-Vx2)2 switched voltage, active only during measurement, one at a time.

RANGE AND RESOLUTION: Voltage outputs program-mable between 2.5 V with 0.67 mV resolution.

    VxACCURACY: (0.06% of setting + 0.8 mV), 0 to 40C(0.12% of setting + 0.8 mV), -25 to 50C(0.18% of setting + 0.8 mV), -55 to 85C (-XT only)

VxFREQUENCY SWEEP FUNCTION: Switched outputsprovide a programmable swept frequency, 0 to 2500 mvsquare waves for exciting vibrating wire transducers.

    CURRENT SOURCING/SINKING: 25 mA

    RESISTANCE MEASUREMENTSMEASUREMENT TYPES: Ratiometric measurements

of 4- and 6-wire full bridges, and 2-, 3-, and 4-wirehalf bridges. Precise, dual polarity excitation forvoltage excitation eliminates dc errors. Offset valuesare reduced by a factor of 2 when excitation reversal

    is used.

VOLTAGE RATIO ACCURACY6: Assuming excitationvoltage of at least 1000 mV, not including bridgeresistor error.

    (0.04% of voltage reading + offset)/Vx

6Accuracy does not include sensor and measurement noise.Offsets are defined as:

    Offset for DF w/input reversal = 1.5Basic Res + 1.0 V

    Offset for DF w/o input reversal = 3Basic Res + 2.0 V

    Offset for SE = 3Basic Res + 3.0 V

PERIOD AVERAGING MEASUREMENTSAny of the 6 SE analog inputs can be used for periodaveraging. Accuracy is (0.01% of reading + resolu-tion), where resolution is 136 ns divided by the speci-fied number of cycles to be measured.
