Training is a core part of the BCG experience. Throughout your career at BCG, you will benefit from a formal training curriculum tailored to your individual needs. It is delivered locally, through regional and global programmes and via virtual and other on-demand platforms. In the London office, the training curriculum for Associates, Senior Associates and Consultants typi-cally starts with an intensive induction programme, consisting of a week of local training and a week of Basic Skills Training in a major European city. A subsequent week of Further Skills Training is also compulsory for staff in their first year at BCG. Depending on the office you join, you could also benefit from an ongoing local training programme offering a breadth of subjects, covering basic as well as more advanced consulting skills and needs. Ad-ditionally, all employees have access to a worldwide training portal where they can view and download on-demand training material on a wide range of topics as well as regular 'virtual classrooms' offer-ing online group discussions led by BCG experts. In addition to this formalised training curriculum, BCG staff benefit from valuable on-the-job training, working with a variety of senior BCG consultants and benefiting from our apprenticeship model.

We are looking for candidates with excellent academic records (minimum AAB at A Level or equivalent, and actual or predicted First or 2:1 or equivalent) as well as evidence of commitment and achievement in non-academic and extracurricular activities. How we structured the media problem • How many extra customers would buy a subscription to our sports channels because of the football? How much would they pay?• How many extra customers would subscribe to our overall service because of the football? How much would they be prepared to pay?• If a competitor wins, will customers leave the client or not subscribe to its packages?

Headline answers to those questions • The client could not make a profit from selling add-on football subscriptions alone• However, if we won, the client would get more subscribers overall…• …and if a competitor won the auction, 10% of existing subscribers would leave

Solutions• The client should bid solo and very high – up to double the revenue available from direct subscriptions• If possible, the client should partner with a competitor to share the cost of the rights

Impact• The client was able to find a partner, and they won the auction together, gaining the rights to show football for the next five years• The client has since outperformed all competitors in subscriber growth, including its partner, by using the money saved to invest in other content
