What if… I failed an exam?

Make an appointment for the Consultation Day and have a look at your exam paper

Register for a repeat examination

All repeat examinations take place in August (for both 1st and 2nd term exams)

Study hard, ask an advice from your classmates who did well in this course

Speaking about exams Continuous assessment (individual or group projects) will

be an important part of your grade in many courses

Never leave continuous assessment until the last minute

Mind the grammar and the formatting!

Having a correct referencing style is extremely important. Use this guide: https://www.maynoothuniversity.ie/sites/default/files/assets/document/The%20Ref%20Point%202nd%20ed%20final_0.pdf

Plagiarism is a serious academic offence. Acknowledge the work of others: https://www.maynoothuniversity.ie/sites/default/files/assets/document/Plagiarism%20May%202014_0.pdf

Good practices in exam revision Revise a little after each class or at the end of the day

Read each course outline carefully

Summarize textbook chapters that you read – that will make it easier to memorize the material

Form study groups to revise – often much better than doing it all alone

Use past exam papers (on the library website) but don’t expect them to be similar each year

Have a good night sleep and a proper lunch before the exam

Have a great learning journey!
