distance in two-thirds of the total time, to cover the remaining distance in the remaining time,

his speed in kmph must be: ?

Solution:

He covered 6/2 = 3km in 45×2/3 = 30 minutes.

So, he must cover in 15 minutes = 3 km.

Required speed = 3km/15min = 3km/15/60 hr = 6kmph. ans.

02] What decimal of an hour is a second?

Solution:

1 hour = 3600 second

1 second as a fraction of ah hour = 1/3600 = 1/36 × 1/100 = 0.027' × 1/100 = 0.00027'. ans.

03] One pipe can fill a tank three times as fast as another pipe. If together the two pipes can

fill the tank in 36 minutes, then the slower pipe alone will be able to fill the tank in:

Solution:

Suppose, the slower pipe can fill in 1 minute = p fraction of the tank

So, the faster pipe can fill in 1 minute = 3p fraction of the tank.

So, in 1 minute, together they can fill = 4p fraction of the tank.

According to the question:

36×4p = 1

p = 1/144

So, the slower pipe can fill in 1 minute = 1/144 of the tank

Therefore, the slower pipe can fill the entire tank in 1/(1/144) = 144 minutes. ans.

04] Aunik, Kamal and Jamal invested Tk 8000, Tk 4000, and Tk 8000 respectively in a

business. Aunik left after six months. If after eight months, there was a gain of Tk 4005, then

what will be the share of Kamal?

Page 3: BB AD 2016 - MCQ Maths Solution

Solution:

WAV Ratio of investment in business = A : K : J = (8×6) : (4×8) : (8×8) = 3 : 2 : 4

Kamal's share of gain = 4005 × 2/(3+2+4) = 890. ans.

05] The ratio of two numbers is 3 : 4, and their HCF is 4. Their LCM is:

Solution:

Suppose, the numbers are 3p and 4p.

So, 12p = 12×4 = 48. ans.

06] If the selling price of an article is 4/3 of its cost price, the profit in the transaction is:

Solution :

Cost = P

Selling Price = 4P/3

Profit = 4P/3 - P = P/3

Profit percentage = ((P/3)×100/P)% = 33 1/3 % or, [33.33'%] ans.

07] Tk 800 becomes Tk 956 in 3 years at a certain rate of simple interest. If the rate of

interest is increased by 4%, what amount will Tk 800 become in 3 years?

Solution:

At 4% rate of interest, total interest earned in 3 years = 800 × 4/100 × 3 = 96.

So the amount will become = 956+96 = 1052. ans.

08] The smallest 6-digit number exactly divisible by 111 is:

Solution:
