Graduation Requirements

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) Requirements

Course Selection for Grade 9

Step 1: Visit YRDSB

Step 2: Click onto My Pathway Planner

Step 3: Enter using GAPPS login username and password

Go to: High School to view your Plan and Courses

Click on Courses to view course calendar details

Students can search by grade and discipline or by typing in the course code.

Students can use the Course Selection Resource to look up course name and codes.

How to Read a Course Code

Bayview’s Pre-IB Grade 9 Compulsory Courses

Students in Bayview’s Pre-IB must take the following courses:

1. English ENG1DZ

2. French FSF1DZ

3. Math MPM1DZ

4. Science SNC1DZ

Please note that in the Course Disciplines students will find IB courses in the IB

Diploma folder.

ESL students MUST pick TWO ESL courses or one ESL course and Grade 9 English. If picking two ESL courses, students must change the English tab to ESL. Please see next slide.

ESL Courses

Step 1: Choose English as a Second Language

Step 2: Choose ESL course. Students choose 2 ESL courses one per semester. If student is going into ESLEO1, then the second course is ENG1D1/1P1.

Learning Strategies Course - IPRC required

Click on the + to select course type

Select the correct science course.

Students in the IB Programme can find IB courses in the IB Diploma subfolders.

When you click on a course, the description pops up. Select the correct course - ADD COURSE.

● Computer Studies

○ ICS2O1 Intro to Computer Programming

○ ICS3U1 Computer Science (Note: This is for students

with a strong foundation in computer programming. This is a

fast paced senior level university credit and will appear on a

transcript for university.)

● ESL (English as a Second Language)

○ AO1/BO1/CO1/DO1/EO1

● Guidance & Career Education

○ GLE1O1 Learning Strategies (IPRC

required)

● Family Studies

○ HIF1O1 Exploring Family Studies

● Technological Studies

○ TIJ1O1 Exploring Technologies

Once you have selected 8 courses, a ninth box will appear. This is ONLY for Grade 9 music repertoire AMR1O1

You must pick THREE alternates. There is NO guarantee you will get your optional choices.

Music Credit Outside of School

Students taking Grade 7 and 8 practical and theory at the Royal

Conservatory of Music (RCM) - these credits count as an elective

credit. These credits do NOT substitute for the compulsory ARTS

credit required for the OSSD diploma.

Guidance Support

NON-YRDSB StudentsGrade 8 students not in a YRDSB school must call the school to book an appointment.

The school will explain what what documents are required for registrations. Students will have to choose their courses at the time of the registration. Students will fill out a form.

Here is a link to the school course calendar. There are two options: One is the direct link to the courses with descriptions in MyBluePrint and the other is an overview of all the courses offered at Bayview.

Course Selection - Key Dates

● Students can go on My Pathway Planner to complete the Who Am I surveys and begin their research

● Students can start choosing their courses● Students can begin submitting courses February 16 to February 24● Students not coming to Bayview must select NOT RETURNING● By completing the Course Selection indicates your intention to attend
