General Information for Completing Application
We are delighted that you are interested in applying for admission to Baylor's University for Young People (UYP). UYP is a summer enrichment program for students entering 1st through 12th grade. Students entering grades 1 through 4 can attend the Creative Problem Solving Camp and/or Discovering Ideas with Technology. Students entering grades 4 through 12 can attend one, two, or three of the one-week sessions held on the Baylor campus. For more information or to see a catalog of 2017 summer classes, please visit www.baylor.edu/SOE/UYP. We hope to release the 2018 course catalog complete in April or May 2018.
The application consists of six parts:1. Student Information (to be completed by you and/or your
parents/guardians)2. Parent Checklist (to be completed by your parents/guardians)3. Teacher Checklist (to be completed by your teacher)4. School Information Forms (to be completed by your teacher or testing
coordinator)5. Student Product (to be supplied by you)6. $15.00 application fee to cover the costs of processing the application.
All parts of the application must be on file in our office before your application will be reviewed by our admissions committee.
We do require that all students provide both an achievement test score and an aptitude (IQ) test score that have been taken within the last 2-3 years or documentation of acceptance into your school’s gifted program. If your school is unable to provide one or both of these test scores, we provide testing for a fee. Email the Center at [email protected] or call 254-710-2171 for further information or to schedule testing.
The Center does not have a set application deadline. Students can apply at any time during the year. It is advisable to have your completed application to our office by the end of March, if possible. If you have difficulty meeting this time frame, please go ahead and complete the application. We will make every effort to get it reviewed by the time classes begin.
Please note that if accepted to UYP, there is no need to apply again. Annual registration information will automatically be mailed to you.
