Save Our Sharks Save Our Seas Foundation 7 minutes Producer/Director: Caroline Brett Country: England Save Our Sharks highlights the terrible price of tradition. Sharks are finnedalive for a tastless soup with no nutritional value. Once the privledge of only the affluent, new wealth in Asia has made shark fin soup more affordable. Thehigh priceof fins makes shark fishing very profitable and millions are slaughtered every year. Many species now face extinction. Life on earth relies on the sea. The ocean needs sharks: the killing must stop.

Rethink the Shark Save Our Seas Foundation 1 minute 20 seconds Producer/Director: Caroline Brett Country: England Rethink The Shark is a pastiche of scenes from the orignal movie “JAWS”. Ituses the iconography of shark as a man-eater but has a twist to subvert audience expectation. On a crowded beach a woman screams in terror. People rush from the surf. A classic triangular shape in the water turns out to be a toaster, something more dangerous than a shark. In Awe of the Shark is a passionate pleas from marine scientists all over the world to “Rethink The Shark”. Sharks are not vicous man hunters. They are sensative, inquisitive, playful and intelligent. Sharks have lived in the seas before the time of the dinosaurs. The oceans are delicately balanced, take out sharks and it will tip the scales. The consquences will be devistating. Save Our Seas: Shark Finning WildAid 50 minutes Country USA The Save Our Seas Shark Fining Documentary describes the horrors of the modern day fishing industry. WildAid created this documentary in the hopes of raising awareness about unsustainable fishing practices that are destroying global marine ecosystems at an alarming rate. Shark fining, dynamite fishing, shrimp farming, and whaling are all contributing to a severe reduction in marine biodiversity, with unforeseen consequences for aquatic ecosystems as a whole. Legislation, management, and law enforcement are absolutely necessary in order to protect our marine ecosystems and to transform fisheries into a sustainable industry. Yao Ming: Shark Fin Soup WildAid 1 minute WildAid public service announcement features NBA all star Yao Ming refusing to eat a bowl of shark fin soup that is served to him at a catered banquet. The message of this awareness campaign focuses on reducing the demand for shark fin soup. What happened? Who killed the Bay's native oysters? This hour-long documentary sets out to answer that question. Produced, written, and directed by veteran filmmaker Michael W. Fincham, the film details both the poignant destruction of a fabled fishery and the prolonged scientific inquiry into the origins of a killer parasite. Page 15

Infinite Oceans R.E.M Films Rich Morris, Producer Duration: 34 minutes Country: USA Throughout history it was always believed that the oceans were an infinite, inexhaustible resource. They provided limitless food, recreation and all the elements to support evolving societies on every continent. This notion, however, couldn’t be further from the truth.

Phil Klein, noted fisheries analyst for Greenpeace, summed it up very concisely, “It wasn’t until we learned how to catch all the fish in the sea that we started to catch all the fish in the sea”. Over population, global climate change and abuse have taken their toll and our once limitless resources are now on the verge of collapse, a possibly irreversible trend.

Join producer/cameraman Rick Morris as he explores the underwater world and poses the questions only the seasoned experts can answer. “Infinite Oceans” is a look into the world of inner space through the eyes, lenses and hearts of some of the world’s most famous image-makers, writers, scientists, conservationists and environmentalists. Travel the world and hear what the voices of wisdom and experience have to say. National Geographic Photographers David Doubilet and Jen Hayes, 3D IMAX film producers Howard & Michele Hall, Diving Legend Stan Waterman, author Mark Kurlansky, Dr. Sylvia Earle and a host of other experts contribute their insights and images in a way that will both intrigue and entertain while educating the viewers. The film also features an outstanding sound track and is shot and produced in HD * Q & A with Rick Morris after film in the lobby. Page 19
