LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

#LO01– MELGES APPROACH TO PHOTOGRAPHY - This eight weekclass taught by local professional photographer Dave Melges will helpbeginning and advanced photographers learn a genuinely newapproach to photography. Melges’ unique style of teaching photogra-phy will help participants develop and advance their skills throughinstruction on theory, technology, technique, style, projects, and edit-ing. Composition, light and style will be emphasized over expensivecameras and software. Participants can expect to learn at leastsomething about EVERY kind of photography. Participants will also beable suggest topics that they would like to see covered. No equip-ment is required, but bringing your own camera is recommended, soyou can ask specific questions about it. Ideally, if you don't own acamera, or plan to buy a NEW camera, it makes the most sense toattend at least ONE class before making your decision. There is noadvantage to having a camera before you start, and there is a HUGEadvantage to waiting until some of the newer technology has beenexplained before you buy! The class includes a simple version of thesoftware used to teach editing as well as texts, example images, online tutorials, fonts, backgrounds, and other digital assets. The soft-ware is not compatible with Mac computers but the TECHNIQUESused in editing apply in various forms in virtually all photo editingsuites, including Photoshop. Dave Melges is a full-time professionalphotographer in Battle Creek Michigan.
