The National Batik Day is a day to appreciate Indonesia’s traditional clothing. This day, since it was first declared, has influenced many people, including me, in one way or another. For starters, many people started to embrace batik as their national heritage. Now, many companies and schools have a specific day (usually Friday) where they are re-quired to wear batik, which is a way to respect that heritage. As a result, designers and shops specializing in batikwear has more opportunities to publicize and be creative with their work; currently, they have made dresses, jumpsuits, and et cetera. As for me, the Na-tional Batik Day and the habit of wearing batik has definitely increased my respect and love toward our national heritage. Plus, the fact that batik designs have been more modern certainly ensures that I, and a lot of other people, would be more interested in wearing batik. With all that said, I think that the National Batik Day has had very good influence in increasing people’s interest in Batik.
