Adding Subfields to the end of fields

Adding Subfields: order conditionally• Utilizes a special syntax in the Subfield box to note insert position

• Example: adding subfield h after ($a,pn but before $bc)• Subfield data: [a,p,n,^b,^c] (brackets indicate to program that this is

special – applies rules right to left. ‘^’ indicates before a field.

Modifying control data• Control fields and fixed fields are modified by position

• MarcEdit 5.0 syntax for position field: start:length

• Example: Changing language (bytes 35-37) from eng to und

• Note, if you don’t want to replace conditionally, enter the replacement character into the Find box in the Subfield Edit tool.

Adding Item data• Utilize III’s 949 command-line syntax to set item/bib. Locations, type, status,

ect.

• Example, set item location to ‘www’
