Temperature
We can measure the temperature with a
thermometer• Temperature is a
measure of how hot something is.
• There are figures on the thermometer.
• We use the Celsius scale in Hungary.
• Americans use the Fahrenheit scale in the USA.
Freezing
• When the temperature of the air is 0 °C, water starts freezing and becomes ice.
• The freezing point of the water is 0 °C.
Melting
When the temperature of the air is 0 °C ,
ice starts meltingand
becomes wateragain
• Heat makes water turn into a gas.• The gas is called water vapour.• The boiling point of the water is 100
°C.
Boiling
Evaporation• When the temperature of the water is near
the boiling point, water evaporates.
Condensation
• water vapour begins to change to tiny water droplets
• the opposite of evaporation
