CS ACADEMY, ERODE

ANNUAL REPORT - 2018 – 19

Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”, said Malcolm. CS Academy believes

in preparing students for the challenges of the future. And true to our philosophy, our students have continued to excel in all areas.

We follow curriculum strictly prescribed by CBSE. The fee revision takes place after having the due consultation with the School

Management Committee members (SMC). We do conduct PTM (Parent teacher meeting) periodically to brief parents about their ward’s

progress. We are happy to share with you the commendable performance of our students in Class X & XII board examinations. In

grade12, Poshikavarsa scored the school highest 484/500. All 156 students scored First class with an average of 82%. 19 students cleared

IIT JEE Mains and 2 of them namely Mukesh and Tharini cleared the JEE Advanced. Mukesh topped the IIT-JEE score in the district and

joined IIT-Madras. 56 students cleared the NEET with Tharini Suresh topping the NEET score in the district. Our students have been

placed in some of the most prestigious universities including IIT Madras, NIT, Madras Medical college, Stanley, NIFT, Sri Ram college

of commerce, Anna University School of Architecture & Planning etc. 25 students have joined Medicine (19 on merit), B.D.S (2),

Engineering (32), B.Arch(6), Fashion Technology (1), Law (3), Design(1), Abroad(2), B.Sc, BCom, BBA, BA, BCA(60). In grade 10, Sri

Nika scored the school highest 489/500. All 119 students scored 1st class with an impressive average of 86%.

During the year, CS students participated in various competitions, Olympiads and Talent examinations and won many awards.

Rushil Bairavan and Sanjay Krishnan cleared the prestigious National Talent Search Examination.

In National Level Science Talent Search Exam, Vinav(I) secured “All India Rank 1” and received cash award of Rs. 16,667/-.

Nithin (I) secured “All India Rank 6” and received cash award of Rs. 1000/-.

V Shrinidhi(X) attended Singapore International Science Camp, where she won Best Essay Award” and secured 1st place in

Quiz.

4 of our students Prem, Harine, Mukesh and Tharini Suresh from the batch of 2017-18 were awarded for their academic

excellence by Indian Medical Association, Erode.

Jithesh(UKG) has registered his name in “India Book of records” for doing the longest duration of 360-degree hand rotation for

19 minutes. Also he has his name figured in “Pathanjai Book of World Records” for doing “Yoganidrasana” for 10 minutes.

In Aqua Regia Times Quiz, Kanishk and Senthil Sivakumar(IX), after clearing the Regional and state level, took part in the

national level at Hyderabad. The same team won the 1st place in the quiz conducted by Erode Round table 98. They also won 1st

place in “General quiz” conducted by Erode Sahodaya.

As part of Career Development Service, students from Grade 11 and 12 attended the Career Fair, which was held in CS

Academy, Coimbatore. Representatives from 30 Universities from India and abroad were present at the fair to highlight their

courses, facilities and scholarships.

As part of our expert talk series, Ms. Shanthi Mohan from US – India Educational Foundation addressed our students on “US

Higher Education”. CCUS-Defence Academy conducted an interactive session about ‘Careers in Defence Services’. CA D

Krishnasamy, chairman of ‘The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’ Erode br., conducted a session about ‘Careers in

Commerce’.

17 of our students qualified for the finale titled “Katha National Utsav Children Writers Festival 2018” to held in Haryana in

the last week of Dec.

The 2nd edition of the ‘CS Cultural Fest’ was organised this year by the Student Council. The students showcased their singing,

dancing and theatrical skills to their full potential in this inter-house competition.

I am pleased to report that our school is now a Prelim SAT centre, which will help all those who are preparing for SAT and

similar exams.

CO-SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES IN SCHOOL

Our students took part in various competitions held outside the school and brought laurels to the school.

In ‘Coimbatore sahodaya Creative writing competition in French’, V. Madhu Vanthini(IX) and Raja Thennavan(VIII) got 2nd

place and in Hindi, Bhavya Jain(X) and Diya Doshi(VII) bagged 3rd place.

In ‘Coimbatore Sahodaya Craft competition for girls’, our team won the 3rd place.

In ‘Coimbatore Sahodaya Dance competition’, our girls team won the 1st place in ‘Thematic Fusion’ category. In Dance

competition conducted by Kongu Arts and Science college, our school team came 2nd place and got the cash prize of Rs. 3000/-.

In ‘Erode Sahodaya Art competition’, our students bagged 3rd place in (III to V) and 1st place in(VI-VIII) and(IX-XII) categories.

In Erode Sahodaya Craft competition, Dev(II) and Shraya(V) got 1st place, Gokul Ram and Nupur temani(XI) got 2nd place and

Adhitheyan(II) got 3rd place.

In ‘Erode Sahodaya Music competition’, - Folk song category, our students won the 2nd place in all the levels and 1st place in

Western song category for middle level and senior level. In Solo semi-classical, S Nivrithi(II) got 1st place, Sathya Priya(XI) got

2nd place and Shrisha(II), Geethanjali(V) & Harsheny(XII) bagged 3rd place.

In ‘Erode Sahodaya Drama competition’, our students bagged the 1st place in level IX to XII category and 2nd place in level VI

to VIII category.

In ‘Erode Sahodaya English Poem writing competition’, Sriya Santhosh(I) and Prenitha(IX) won the first place and Nikhil

Sivanandhan(V) won the 3rd place. In ‘Tamil Poem writing competition’, Swathi(VIII) won the 1st place and Elamathii(II) won

the 3rd place. In ‘Hindi Poem writing competition’, Radhey Shrer(II) won the 1st place, Harsh Bhatia(V) and Riya Kwatra(IX)

won the 3rd place.

In ‘Erode Sahodaya Creative writing competition in Tamil’, Dhanishka(V), Dharshini(VIII) and Srinithi(X) got the 2nd place &

Hasmitha(II) won 3rd place. In Hindi, Manesh Goel(II) got 2nd place.

In Erode sahodaya Public Speaking competition, Aditi(II) and Rethanya(IX) won 1st place and Pranav Karthi(V) and Deethi(VI)

bagged 2nd prize.

In English Teen Talk - 2018, which was conducted by KSR college, Retanya(XI) won the 2nd place and a cash prize of Rs.

10,000/-

SPORTS

In Volleyball, U- 19 boys team came Runner-up in Erode Sahodaya.

In Cricket, U-16 boys team emerged winner and U-19 team runner-up and were declared overall champion in Coimbatore

Sahodaya. U-15 boys team emerged victorious in Erode District Cricket association tournament. In Erode Sahodaya, our U-16

and U-19 team emerged as winner.

In Basketball, U-19 boys team came Runner-up and U-17 second runner-up in the ‘CBSE regional level cluster competition’.

Our U-14, U-16 and U-19 boys team emerged winner and U-19 girls Runner-up in Erode Sahodaya. Our U-19 team emerged

winner and U-14 runner up and U-16 2nd runner up in Coimbatore Sahodaya. We have also registered our school as ‘CS

Academy basketball club’ with ‘TN Basketball Association’ to give more exposure to our students.

In Table Tennis, our team was declared Overall Champion in Erode Sahodaya and Runner up in Coimbatore Sahodaya.

Shruthi(VIII) and Rithanya(VII) reached semi-finals in State level TT tournament.

In Badminton, our U-16 boys and girls team came runner up in Coimbatore Sahodaya. In Erode Sahodaya, our school team

won 6 gold and 3 silver medals.

In Athletics, Abbi Nandhan(VI) and Srinish(X) bagged gold medal in 100 mtrs dash. Sri Nish, Siddarth, Pavin Kalyan(X) and

Madhavan(IX) bagged 3rd place in 4 * 100 mtrs relay in ‘Coimbatore Sahodaya Athletic meet’.

In Swimming, we have once again been proved invincible. We have bagged 90 gold, 67 silver and 25 bronze medals in various

Aquatic championships. We were declared the overall Champions in State meet, Erode Sahodaya and Erode District Aquatic

championship. Our team bagged 12 medals in ‘CBSE South zone championship’ too.

In Tennis. Dakshata(IV), Rithvik(IX) and Riswanth(VIII) won gold medal and Shruthikka(XII), Pranay Kartik(VI) and Aditi(X)

bagged Silver medal in Coimbatore Sahodaya. We won overall championship in ‘Coimbatore and Erode Sahodaya’.

In Chess, our team won the Overall Championship in Coimbatore Sahodaya.

In Yoga, Jothi Krishna(VIII) got 1st place and Ruthra Adhithyan and Mithra(IV) bagged 2nd place in Coimbatore Sahodaya. In

Erode Sahodaya, our students bagged 5 Gold medals. Jothi Krishna bagged 2nd place in state level and was selected for

National Level Yoga championship.

In Archery, Gowrish(VII) placed 5th in cluster and qualified for National level championship.

In Throw-ball, our U-14 girls team emerged winner and U-16, runner up in Erode Sahodaya.

ACTIVITIES IN SCHOOL

A new club named INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) was introduced to encourage students to

preserve their culture and heritage. Another new club “TED-Ed” club also started this year to develop the critical thinking and

communication skills of students.

CS Academy presented “Be an Entrepreneur Contest” on the theme “Beat the Plastic” for all the students from Level VI-XI. This

contest was conducted to give the students an experience to run a business and bring out organizational efficiency in them. The

students earned revenues of over 5 lakh rupees.

Our students, have been attending the various Model United Nations Conferences, for the sixth year in succession. They have taken

part in various MUN Conferences this year namely Harvard Model United Nations conference, Hyderabad, Chennai MUN, MUN

for India by WorldView in Erode and Coimbatore.

The commerce department organised “Crescendo – 2018” - a Business Cine Conclave having the theme “Business Ethics”. The

participated schools screened their short films highlighting the fact that business should be oriented for profit as well as social

welfare.

In this academic year, we introduced ‘Open door’ assessment for grade 7 & 8 and “Clash of PI” - an online mathematical contest,

for 6 to 10. It is to understand the concept well and achieve mathematical excellence.

The school is highly committed about the protection of environment. Students are motivated to love and protect nature. Students

create awareness about cleanliness and hygiene to the people in the nearby villages. Students not only plant trees in and around

campus but also nurture and protect them. Students acquire the knowledge of using organic products like organic fertilisers and

pesticides. In school, we have a provision of segregation (using Compost pit), recycling (using Bottle garden, Drip irrigation and

jeans garden) and disposal of waste. School is using energy saving and energy efficient electronic equipment in the form of LED

lights, Solar water heater, LED Projectors, LED Computers and Inverter AC units.

This year, we launched ‘The International Award for young people’ popularly known worldwide as ‘The Duke of Edinburgh’s

Award’. 46 of our students from grades 9 and 11 have registered for it.
