THE COMPANY

The Barzaghi Company was founded in 1924, by joining Americantechnology with the Barzaghi Brothers.

The Company has been working in the domestic and international markets

for over 80 years.

The Barzaghi family has remained faithful to the tradition that places themamong the leading Italian manufacturers of Carboxymethylcellulose andChemicals Specialties.

Today, the Barzaghi plant and his head quarter is located in Arluno (MI),

close to the exit of the Milan-Turin highway, just 20 minutes far from Milan.

HISTORY

1924 - The two Brothers Arturo and Aldo Barzaghiby joining American technologyfounded in Milan a chemical

company named Standard Chemical Products.

1928 The company changed its name and became Industrie Chimiche Barzaghi.

1939 Barzaghi started the cellulose derivative production, in particular the Carboxymethylcellulose,

commonly known as CMC, widely used in many industrial fields. This has been a very important development

also because at that time there were only few manufacturers of CMC all over the world.

1943 The Barzaghi Company experienced the effects of the World Word II: the plant located in Milan has

been bombed, and afterwards rebuilt.

1957 The company move from Milano to Brugherio (MI) where Barzaghi build up a new and bigger plant,

permitting the extension of the site and of the Company. In this period Barzaghi manufacture a wide range of

chemicals, also in pharmaceutical field. Some of the products born in this period (like Citrosil

, for instance), will

become very famous and also today (even if not manufactured anymore by Barzaghi) are still present on the

market.

1973 Barzaghi bought some land and industrial buildings in Arluno (MI), close to Milan, and move to this site

gradually building what today is Barzaghi srl.

1996 - Barzaghi srl is granted the UNI EN ISO Quality Certification from the certifying body Det Norske Veritas.

2006 Barzaghi buys a bordering ground that will allow the Company to start a new extension of the existing

plant.

BARZAGHI today

Today, BARZAGHI srlis a family company owned by Mr. Alfredo Barzaghi (president of the Company). The

company core business, is still the manufacturing of different cellulose ethers and starches derivatives. The

company has 15 employee and a turnover of around 4 million euro. The producing plant has a capacity of

around 3000 metric tonnes per year concerning the powder products (Cellulose ethers and starches

derivatives).

BARZAGHI srl, in Arluno (MI) deploys two separate lines for the manufacturing of Carboxymethylcellulose

(NaCMC), both equipped with their own control and fine-tuning units, as well as 5 plants for the

manufacturing of modified starches and guar gums based on exclusive and patented formulations.

BARZAGHI is able to offer its customers finely-tuned technology applications that best serve the demands of

several market outlets.

BARZAGHIs specialty chemicals are diversified:

BARZAGHI, manufactures by chemical synthesis a wide range of Cmctraded in the market as Carbofix

and

Gelogum

. Thanks to his production flexibility, the company can manufacture tailor made cmcalso in small

quantities. Beside cmc, BARZAGHI manufacture modified starches, with the trademark Cartagel

, Resamin

and Tabertex

, as follows:

Carboxymethylated starches (CMS), with different degree of etherification, liquid or in powder form,

Cationic starches

Oxidized starches

Further on, BARZAGHI trades on the market a wide range of Hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC),with the trade

name of Gelogum

HC series and thanks to his production flexibility can manufacture even tailor made

grades, in terms of viscosity range and purity.
