  • Roll a egg shape for the body and insert a toothpick for stability.

Let the body dry for a while when your work on the head.

Use the Ball Tool to create the eye sockets. Make small circular movements then use your thumb to make the eye sockets bigger and soften up the edges.

    Page 1

Roll out the same amount of paste for the head but make a ball shape this time.

  • This is how the eye sockets should look like. Try to make them as even as possible.

You can gently rub your finger to get the shape you need and get the desired thickness.

    Page 2

Roll two equal small balls of light brown fondant and place them in the eye socket. Only use very little glue. Now use the Ball Tool to make the same circular movements and thin out the fondant.

  • I gently rubbed down with my finger to get this result.

Roll out a small teardrop for the beak and give the eyes two white sparks.

    Page 3

Roll out two balls of black fondant and make them even. Place them in the eye socket and gently give a rub down with your finger so they get slightly oval as shown in this picture.

  • Create some nostrils with a toothpick.

Make the string gently flat with your fingers. Your owl head should look like this.

    Page 4

Roll out a long string in the same thickness, if you feel confident enough you can use your hands. Alternatively and if you have one you can use a sugar gun with a small disc. Use a litte glue where the string Use a litte glue where the string should attach his head. Start on top and cut the excessive amount away.

  • Roll out three teardrop shapes for each claw.So you need 6 teardrop shapes in total.

This is how both paws should look like.

    Page 5

Glue the pointy ends together and press them gently with your finger together.

  • Once the claws have dried up a little you can place the body on top of them. You should only see his toes.

    Nearly finished now :)

    Page 6

Roll out tiny black nails. I use the Needle Scriber tool to slice and pick them up. Use a little glue for this,

  • Once the body is dry enough you can place the head on top, now only the wings and tail are missing.

Place them on top of eachother like this and gently make them flat with your fingers. For the other wing repeat the proces but flip it horizontal.

For his tail just place them straight on top of eachother.

    Page 7

For the wings (and his tail), you roll out three colours of brown fondant like this. Slightly thicker on one side and pointy ends to both sides.

  • Attach the wings with some glue right under his head, and the tail to his back.

Congratulations with your new baby barn owl! :)
