Presentation Notes
Iva frutescens along mosquito ditches from fill placement on wetland. Marsh was ditched in 1931-1932. Iva largely gone in 1976 and between the upland and the main creek the dominant vegetation is SAS or forb panne – high marsh grasses along creek and ditch banks. 2013 pannes are forming as Blake-Coleman had forecast.

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Miller and Egler recognized 5 salt marsh communities. Panicum belt of upland border of tidal marsh which is actually non-tidal and now classified as a sea level fen. Juncus upper slope, Spartina patens lower slope, vegetated pannes (SAS/forbs) and low marsh Spartina. With the exception of Panicum belt – they tossed a 10’ diameter hoop 50 times into the 4 plant communities. Panicum sampling was conducted to the east in the Brucker Marsh.
