Message from the Principal

Dear members of the Bardia Public School community,

Week 4 already! How time flies. We are still settling in and my prediction that we will not be finished with construction and an impressive defects list until June looks to be correct.

Please be patient with us as we try and get the logistics worked out. We are certainly heading in the right direction. Our library will be open for business this week and our learning support team and our team that assists our students with limited English will also be fully operational.

About three times each term we will have whole school assemblies that parents and relatives can attend. Please come along to these if you can.

Thank you to all those parents who have signed up to Buzzy. We have about 320 parents on board! Still a few glitches to iron out but it will be fantastic when we are all using Buzzy.

If you wish to sign up to the app yourself, you should complete the following easy steps:

Please note that because we do not want the students’ learning to be disrupted, the doughnut will be closed to parents during class-time. Please wait outside the school and do not enter the school through the Administration Foyer. The roller doors near the Administration Office and the gates near the COLA will be opened at 2.55pm.

WARNING! Almost every afternoon we have a child go missing, parents running anxiously around the school trying to find them and teachers extremely stressed. Fortunately, with every such incident the child has been picked up by another relative or neighbour and the parent has not been informed or the child has been given the wrong information

Please remember that you MUST be here

at 3.00pm each afternoon to collect your child. There is no afternoon supervision provided. If you are going to be late regularly you should enrol your child in after-school care. Camp Australia is the licensor on school premises. If there is an emergency and you will be unavoidably late, please ring the school before 2.30pm and inform the office staff.

Please note that children have been arriving at

school long before 8.30am. Supervision is only provided from 8.30am.

Library News

Our library is ready!! Welcome everyone to our new library. I’m so excited that students, teachers and parents are now able to use the library. Thank you to all the helpers that got everything cleaned and ready to go. Below you will find your child’s library day. The students are able to borrow during their class times and in the second half of lunch from next week. The library is also open to parents on Monday and Thursday mornings from 8:30am -9:00am. The library is closed on Fridays. Students must have a library (cloth not plastic) bag to borrow for home. Primary students will be allowed to borrow one book for the classroom if they do not have a library bag. We do this at Bardia Public School because if the child remembers their bag they remember their books. A library bag also protects the books and separates them from your books at home. During this term we will be discussing ways to remember our library bag and useful rituals to have at home. Your child’s library day is:

Did you know? Our library is called

Goldie’s Library because we have always had a fish

called Goldie.

Class Parent Program The Class Parent Program was trialed last year at Bardia Public School and was such a success that we are continuing the program this year. The vision for the program is to maintain our small school feel as we continue to grow. We have many new students and families to our school and may have lost their social connections. The Class Parent Program aims to help. Through this program parents are able to connect with other parents in their child’s class and hub. Each Hub will have two or three parent volunteers who become the social

coordinators for their hub. The communications will be run through an app in Buzzy. HELP! We need volunteers to help with the embroidery of the student uniforms. No experience needed. Very simple, machine does it all. Training available. If you are able to assist please notify the office.

Don’t forget to bring your hat and jacket purchases to the office for embroidery with your child’s unique initials. We retain a register of all records so we can return any lost items to the students.

CRAFT SESSIONS

We are running craft sessions during the lunch period. If

you have any craft items you could donate (e.g. wool,

knitting needles, ribbon etc.) please hand in to the office.

All donations welcome.

For every deposit made at school, no matter how big or small, students will receive a cool Dollarmites token. Once students have individually collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for a school banking reward item in recognition of their continued savings behaviour. Remember our school earns 5% commission on every deposit made (to a maximum of $10 per individual deposit). Thank you for supporting the School Banking program at Bardia Public School.

The Bardia Public School uniform is now stocked in the retail shop Skool Uniforms Pty Ltd in Ingleburn. The shop hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 2pm Saturday. They will also be continuing the service at the school site on Monday mornings from 8.30am to 9.30am.

Meet Our OSHC Team

The Educators managing the Outside School Hours Care at Bardia Public School are passionate

and make sure they always provide a wide range of activities that engage all children each and

every day at before and after school care.

They thoroughly enjoy what they do and take their roles very seriously. Ezgi Ozdemir is one

such member of our team. Nadine Martin is the program Coordinator, Manager> and has been

working with Bardia Public School since 2016

Nadine is an experienced and qualified Educator with expertise in working with children in

OSHC. As part of her role as an Educator with Camp Australia, she has completed compulsory

training in Active Supervision (VSHAPE), Child Protection and Camp Australia policies and

procedures to ensure the service is safe and engaging for all children in their care.

Between the hours of 7-9am and 3-6pm, Nadine and Ezgi can be seen chatting with the children

who attend OSHC. Nadine’s favorite activity is discussing the children’s’ days and celebrating

their birthdays. Ezgi’s favorite game and activities are playing board games with children,

cooking and art & craft

care program.

A very warm welcome back to everyone, and a special welcome to families new to the school and our

program. We are excited to have you all with us for Term 1 and beyond.

Register Your Child Now

To attend our care, you must register your child. You can register an account with us at

pp.campaustralia.com.au/account/login. Once registered, it’s easy to make bookings and manage

your booking options online via our parent portal. If you have an irregular schedule and think that you

may need to make changes often and last minute, our Gold Account option provides you with the

flexibility to book or cancel up to two hours prior to each session. If eligible, to help you with the cost of

child care, you may be entitled to receive the Australian Government Child Care Subsidy.

NOTICES

The school is a member of the Amart All Sports Community

Kickbacks Program. Customers of Amart All Sports can elect

Bardia Public School to receive credits against purchases made.

You will need to join the Amart All Sports Team Amart Loyalty

Program and nominate Bardia Public School as your “Relevant

Participating Club or School”.

You will receive a loyalty program card which must be swiped

or selected when purchasing goods in store or on-line in order

for the school to accrue credits. Once the school’s credits reach

$2000 (ex GST) within a 12 month period the school will

receive a 5% store credit ($100).

This is a convenient way for the school to acquire sporting

equipment for the benefit of all our students.
