The Gothic Quarter is one of Barcelona’s top tourist spots but also a popular area for expats. Thanks to its central location in Barcelona, it is home to a wide array of vegetarian and vegan restaurants. You won’t lack choice here; from burgers and doughnuts at Gopal to gourmet veggie food at Teresa Carles, there’s plenty of vegan options in the Gothic Quarter. However, because it’s downtown, there aren’t many big supermarkets in El Gotico. There is a huge covered food market, La Boqueria. It has a wide selection of foods but it IS very crowded (and a pickpocket hotspot!), as it’s a tourist destination.

gRACIA This is one of the most vegan-friendly areas in Barcelona. Gracia, an alternative neighborhood, is home to a vegan supermarket (Ecocentre) and a vegan shoe shop (Amapola). Gracia also has two large covered food markets and lots of little health food stores, greengrocers and shops selling dried nuts and grains. You’ll even find ‘legumes cuits’ or cooked bean shops, which sell beans cooked fresh (from dried) every morning, plus freshly-cooked rice and quinoa.
