BARBERABOUT BARBERINGDo you desire to work in a field that values both artistic expression and skilled execution? Consider barbering, a rapidly growing field that combines modern cutting, styling and shaving techniques with a longstanding tradition of precision and craftsmanship. Oklahoma Technical College gives its students access to the best equipment and training available. Upon graduation, you will be prepared to take the Oklahoma State Department of Health Barber Exam to become a licensed barber in Oklahoma.

PROGRAM DETAILSProgram Length: • Diploma: 53 weeks (day), 78 weeks (evening)• Degree: 93 weeks (day), 118 weeks (evening)Class Times: • Day – 8:00am to 2:00pm, M-F• Evening – 5:30pm to 10:30pm, M-RCredential Earned: Diploma and Degree tracks available. Degree track grants an Associate of Occupational Science (AOS) degree.

PREREQUISITESHigh school diploma or GED and admissions essay required for admittance.

JOB OUTLOOKAccording to the US Department of Labor, employment of barbers is expected to grow 7% by 2020. Demand for hair coloring, straightening, and other advanced hair treatment has increased in recent years, a trend that is likely to continue over the coming decade.
