Introduction

The overall objective of this project was to create a fully functional database system for a online bank.

The database should allow the introduction of new customers along with allowing existing customers to view their account as well as obtain new products in terms of loans and additional accounts.

To produce this database there are three main steps; Conceptual data model, Logical

data model and Physical data model

Underline Assumptions and Limitations

Designed for a bank which has a online presence only

The bank only offers personal accounts and does not cater for business customers

There are 4 account types; Student Account, Current Account, Savings Account and Investment Account

Credit card bills are generated on a monthly basis

Bank statements are generated on a quarterly basis

Conclusion

On completion of this project we have learned extensively about the different stages involved when creating a database system.

One of the key learning outcomes we received from completing this database system is that before one can continue on to the next stage of the project you must first ensure the previous stage is correct, if not this will only cause errors in future stages.
