At the end of last Friday, Rowena Public School played host to the band of St Francis Xaviers Catholic School from Narrabri. It was a HOT day, however, everyone soon got over the heat when the music started. We started the day with a wonderful morning tea laid out on behalf of the Rowena community. It was delicious and I think is what got us through the heat. Rowena Public School students then started the music, with a spotless performance on the Marimbas – unveiling a brand new song. From all reports our Narrabri friends were very impressed. We all then headed into the classrooms to have a discussion around what it is like going to school in Rowena. We soon found out that we weren’t all that different after all – although what a site! 50 students in the 3-6 class room was quite extraordinary! St Francis Xavier Band then took the stage and played incredibly well – it sounded just wonderful under our cola. The Rowena Band students were then given the chance to join the band for 2 pieces together. That’s right! Side by side in the huge band! What a great opportunity! We then all enjoyed lunch and the pool! Thank you to P&C for hosting the day. Your hospitality has been commented on many times since. Thank you to Mrs McDonnell in particular for all your work! Thank you to Mrs Smith for her ongoing support of our students! A brilliant day! Principal’s Message The last official newsletter for 2015! Can you believe that! How time has flown by this term. We are in full flight at school now, as we begin the wrap up. So many exciting events ahead of us… I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every family that has supported us over this year. Our school seems to go from strength to strength and the list of accolades it collects is endless. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We have the very best of communities that makes our school the place it is. Teachers (and principals!) are now in full report writing mode, final preparations for Presentation Night are slipping into place and we are starting the arduous task of tidying up this year’s work and planning for next year – in the ‘new’ Rowena! I can’t wait to celebrate 2015 with everyone and acknowledge the work of our amazing students, staff and community. Bring on the next 2 weeks!
